GEORGE — Stop by the home of Reed and Dee Briggs Thomas in the Sunbrook community and youll have an opportunity to visit with two people who love the Huntsman World Senior Games. In fact, they are ambassadors for the track and field competition. Dee, 81, earned three gold medals and a bronze medal in this year’s competition. She competed in the javelin, shot put, discus throw and 50-meter dash. Because of health concerns, Reed, 74, didn’t compete in track and field this year. He did compete in social golf. Reed is a longtime runner and has been involved in throwing competition for years, too. Dee is relatively West Side: Your community new to the throws. “I started coming down here with a group to play tennis; Dee said of her introduction to the Huntsman World Senior Games. “I mar- ried Reed in 2002 and got involved in track and field in 2003 because “Reed and his twin brother Ross had done everything in track and field? “T asked her if she wanted to (compete), Reed said. “She tried it and liked it. It’s good exercise’ ow Dee works out in her backyard, with throwing areas cleared out, for a vari- ety of senior competitions. She and Reed have travelled to places like Las Vegas, Mesquite and Laughlin, Nev.; empe, Ariz; Provo and Cedar City to compete. “We're going to go to nationals at Stanford next summer, Dee said. She is qualified to compete in all four of her events. “I tried to get her to do the pole vault and hurdles,’ Reed joked. GEORGE — If you hear something about the Utah Blaze right now, credit — or blame — former resident Jay conte Hinton is the director of communications for the state’s Arena Football League team. “My job, during the offseason, is to keep the team’s name in the public eye as much -as possible; Hinton said.
