GEORGE — Wanting to find a place to contribute, Ida May Candland — who will turn 93 this month — got involved with a humanitarian service project during the summer months. Since then, she has knitted caps — 127 of them. The count gets higher by the day. As part of humanitarian service through Deseret Industries, operated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ida May provided the yarn and time to make the little caps. Later, members of her ward's Relief Society brought yarn to her to make it easier. The caps oe will be donated to needy children wherever humanitarian aid is sent around the world. Ida May said she needed something to do since this was her first summer without a garden. In the past, she always had a garden to raise vegetables in, but after moving in August 2007 to the Meadows Retirement Community State ore Julie Walton / For St. George Neighborhoods in St. George, she had some time on her hands. Making the yarn caps was the right prescription. She had knitted all her life but found a hand-held, Knifty Knitter round loom was easier and made the process go faster. She enjoyed knitting so much that the ladies keep bringing her yarn. Hand-knitted caps made by Ida May Candland are part of a humanitarian service project and will be sent to needy children all over the world.’ “T felt like there is a lot of things I can't do, but I can sit here and do Mas Grete INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC ~ Symphony Band and Orchestra October 14, 2008 Jazz and Percussion Hours: Mon. - Fri. 8:30 - 6:30 Sat. 9:00 - 2:00 NOW OPEN October 21, 2008 All pecf in th pe ormances 1n ANY LAB TEST NOW® provides thousands of standard lab tests to consumers and employers professionally.
