GEORGE — Estudiantes que participan en el coro de la escuela elemental de Dixie Down entregaron aproximadamente 1.000 latas de comida envasada al Dixie Care & Share el 16 de noviembre como anticipo a la cena del Dia de Gracias. En un clima de entusiasmo y compafierismo y con un sentimiento de solidaridad hacia los menos afortunados, los alumnos de quinto y cuarto grado que participan en el coro de la escuela colocaron este aiio la piedra fundamen- ~ Rosa Maria Martinez/ El Sol tal para la creacién de nuevas memorias el deseo y la motivacion y experiencias que seran inolvidables a través del tiempo. Alrededor de 20 estudiantes junto diantes, los cuales trabajaron en solidaridad y uni6n para lograr el propésito a la maestra de coro, Randy Hunt, iniciaron un proyecto que se extendid ao. por 10 dias para asistir a la agencia local que brinda servicios de albergue y comida a los mas necesitados de la ciudad. Hunt dijo que se sentia orgullosa por de sus estu- planeado en este tiempo especial del “No tuve necesidad de recordarles lo que tenfan que hacer”, dijo Hunt. “Ellos juntaron las latas ‘de comida, las contaron y las colocaron en cajas para ser entregadas”. Hunt dijo que la meta de los estu- diantes fue la de prestar servicio a la comunidad y de hacer una diferencia y este fue un medio organizado para hacerlo. “Los alumnos que entraran al quinto grado el afio que viene podran ser lideres y hacer lo mismo que han hecho los lideres de este afio”, dijo Hunt.
