Show From Our Correspondents The Roosevelt orchestra gave a dance in Myton last Friday night. Isaac Dalton took a load of honey hon-ey to Price this week for Mr. Hors-ley. Hors-ley. C C. Cooper received a telegram stating ftHat his nephew1, jCharles Cooper of Arkansas, had died. George Tjucker came home last Sunday from Hiwatha to spend the holidays with his parents. B. A. Cooper left this week for New Rochelle, New York, the home of Miss Lilian Herman. Our Xmas day wedding bells will ring for this young! couple, making the second eastern bride in the family. Myton will be the home of the young couple coup-le in the future. LThe many friends of Mr. Cooper will be glad to welcome wel-come them here and wish them a .ong and hapy life. T. M. Pitts and sons purchased a new thrashing machine. They expect to thrash in the vicinity of Myton. o o I BLUEBELL O O The school thijdren were given a holiday on Monday and the men of the district turned out to fix the school house, some with teams hauling haul-ing dirt to bank the house and others oth-ers repairing doors and windows, also the lights, as they sometimes fail to work when most needed. A new chimney is being built on the west side, the work is not yet completed. com-pleted. The school rooms have been very uncomfortable heretofore. The Relief Society ladies furnished furnish-ed the dinner which was a grand sue . cess. There was plenty of good thingi to eat and to spare even though between be-tween fifty and sixty persons took dinner in the large schoolroom. Jim Cook returned from Vcrna. Friday. He reports his father no better. w . Mr. and Mrs. Fred Goodrich and Mina and Stella Goodrich drove tc E,oosevelt, Saturday. They had a very pleasant trip. "While trying to fasten a small gate, Mrs.Hannah Larsen scratchec her finger with a rusty wire. Thougl somewhat painful it bled freely anc ; she did not think it serious but or Friday night she became quite ill.' Brother Larsen consulted some of the neighbors who have had practical prac-tical experience and they advised treatment for blood poisoning. At this time she is considerably better. Jim Cook, Jimmig Gere, George Woodruff and others start for the mountains, Tuesday, to put up cabins cab-ins and prepare to do assessment work on their oil sand claims. W. B. Woodruff spent two or three days with D B. Conklin, in Altonah, last week. Bishop Merrill arrived in Monte-cello, Monte-cello, the eleventh day after leaving Bluebell. Word comes from Wm. Mrs. Martin Aired has returned to her home after an extended visit to Provo. Chas. Burdick, who has been away since last spring, is visiting his parents; par-ents; Mr. and Mrs. Lutellus Burdick. Mr Pope is thrashing his wheat and seed. Sam Sumarell has returned from Texas where he went to see h. 'ather who was reported sick. Mr. Summarell reached there after h. fathers death and brought the remains re-mains here for interment. The services ser-vices were conducted in the ware house and a great many friends fittingly paid their last respects. Mrs. Ada Rhoades and childre. are visiting with Mrs. Foster Rhoaa is this week. Frank Clark of Tabiona brought a load of lumber to our school house Tuesday. The finishing wark is being be-ing done now on the school house. Thomas Rhoades, county commis-iioner commis-iioner went to Duchesne Monday ,o attend a meeting of the board. Mr. Brown, the painter, is paint, ng the home of Thomas Rhoades at present, he will also paint the home of Will Rhoades before leaving. A number of ladies gathered at the home of Louise Turnbow Friday Fri-day at a quilting bee. Mrs. Stella Rhoades spent several sever-al days this week visiting with her sister, Maud Rose.' ' Mr. Draper of Lakefork, is mov ing his saw mill in North fork o-the o-the Duchesne river where he expects ex-pects to stay for some time. He ha: i mill that will make all kinds finishing lumber. Will Rhoades made a business trip to Tabiona Friday. We are having very stormy weather wea-ther at present, plenty of snow. Mae Atwood has been- very sick this week, but is improving now. Mr. Brown is planning on giving a dance before he leaves and is going go-ing to hire the Tabiona orchestn furnish the music, so everybod. is anticipating a good time. Rollo Jones and Orsen Allen came over the mountains from Woodland Wednesday. They say there is lots of snow on the mountains. " M. and Mrs. E. ,W. Atwood made a business trip to Tabiona this week. There is no sale for them, so Frank stayed out to feed them until they could get a market. Mr. Carlile's two brothers from Heber are visiting him and looking aver the country. A parcel shower was given last iday evening by the Mutual in honor of Miss Laverta Jensen, who will be married to Orrin Harwood, ol Mt. Home, some time this month. Quite a large crowd gathered and spent the time in singing and dancing danc-ing after which ice cream was served to those present. Roy Workman and Willard McDonald Mc-Donald returned home Friday e. ing from Midway with a load of ap pies. Mrs. David Davies was the guest of Sarah E. Davies, Monday. Edwin Anderson was a Duchesne visitor Monday. Miss Laura Sorensen was the guest of Miss Norma Beckstead Sunday Sun-day afternoon. The bishopric are -making their annual visits to the people of the ward this week. The Relief Society held their regular reg-ular monthly work meeting at the home of Sarah E. Davies and quilted quilt-ed a auilt for Mrs. Nancy Jensen. The Parent-Teachers Association held their meeting last Tuesday evening. C. P. Burton and family are preparing pre-paring to spend Christmas in Salt Lake City. David Winterton made a business trip to Duchesne and Red Cap Saturday, Sat-urday, returning home Sunday. David Davies and Lars Koffard left here Thursday for Rains, where they expect to work. Thos. L. Allred of Rains was here on business during the week. Mr. Allred has a home here. Nellie Leetham, the three year old daughter of Maroni Leetham, while playing run a crochet hook in her hand. Dr. Enochs was called to remove the hook and dress the wound. Mr. Cox of upper Antelope will bail all his hay this year, command-in command-in this way a better price for it. He has contracted to Mr. Mamilton one hundred tons to supply the Wells demand. The price agreed upon is eighteen dollars per ton delivered. Most of the trucks leaving Myton My-ton recently were loaded with clover clov-er and alfalfa seed. The parcel post service and the U. S. mail has been trasfered from the Helper road to the Price-My-ton because of the Jslocade of snow on the pass. The Price-Myton road must be in very good con di-tion di-tion as one of the drivers made the trip from Price to Myton in four hours and twenty-five minutes. , C. E. Bibson from Randlett was in Myton Wednesday on business. The W. E. Broome garage will probably be sold to the government for the care of mail cars and trucks. A meeting was held in the Myton school house to discuss the organization organi-zation of a Boy Scout troop in Myton. My-ton. The school boys were found very eager for this cretable organization. organi-zation. A. L. Rice will be their leader. Mrs. D. J. Dennis, has returned from Provo, where she spent some time with i her daughter, Mrs. Lila Gentry. A farewell party for Lucile Finey was given Wednesday night at the Fowler home. Miss LaVerne Wheeler Wheel-er and Miss Ruby Fowler were hostesses. hos-tesses. M. H. Fowler has returned from a business trip to Helper. Mr. and Mrs. Morgan Calvert are rejoicing over the arrival of a new , baby boy last Saturday. A concerned are doing nicely. Many of the Myton people are looking forward to Christmas when the boys and girls, who are attending attend-ing school outside, will come home for the holidays. The - seventh grade girls of the Myton school gave a surprise party for Miss Laura Dennis at her home last Friday night. They report a good time.' Mrs. Dave Marchant and her daughter, Laural, left for Soldier Summit last Sunday to join Mr. Marchant, who is employed in a barber shop there. Darwin Marchant has charge of the Myton Barber shop. Mrs. M. E. Hardman gave a farewell fare-well party last Saturday night for Arris Christenson and her son Willie Hardman, who left for Ogden Sunday Sun-day morning. Preston Odekirk has gone, out to Provo where he will attend the B. Y. U. Frank Guxber, a brother of the late Mrs. Tom Smith, will make his home with the Smith children, who recently buried their father. We are glad to see the little orphans have someone make life seem worth while to them, after the sad' be-revement. be-revement. She is looking for a suitable hotel location. Miss Leota Tucker, has been very ill for the past two weeks. She is now on the improve and asks every day how much longer it will be before be-fore she can return to school and indulge in good eats. A meting of the Parent-Teachera Association was held at the Myton .school house last Friday. A trombone trom-bone solo by V. T. Rice and a vocal solo by Miss Naoma Brown were enjoyed. Mr. Musser gave a very able talk on teaching. He stated the value of a teacher taking part is the childs play. o o BONETA I O O We are very sorry to report that small pox has broken out in our community. So far there are only two cases, one in the home of F. E. Reynolds and one in the home of C. A. Erickson. Both families are quarentined. No meetings were held last Sunday. Sun-day. Br,uce Brown came (home from the mining camps last Monday, aa he was unable to secure work. The school is preparing a program to be given December 21. Mrs. Anna Salmon spent the week ' end at Mt. Bishop But gen er is still working on his house, he expects . to move in by Christmas, Mr. Hastings is busy hauling oats and clover seed. He will soon be ready to thrash. J. J. Sellers went to Talmage and Boneta Sunday and Monday. Geoge Sheltcn went to Duchesne last Saturday. Mr. Halliday and Mrs. Watkins our school teachers, are going to give a good school program, Christmas. The Primary children will give a children's party in -the near future. Thornton Richardson was over to his ranch Saturday. He says he will be glad when school i out so he can get back home again. We still have water in. our canal. It is fine to have culinary water all winter, and there is no reason why we should not. Our new mail man is giving us good service. We hope he will stay with it for the winter. o 1 o I , CEDARVIEW l o o Sim Russel and his son, Allen, cam,e in from Denver, where they have been with a shipment of cattle. Mr. Russell reports the cattle market mar-ket very poor. Parley Murphy returned home with blood poison in his hand, but is beter at this time. .The doctor has been attending the little son of Niels Neilson. The youngster is reporetd better at this time. Mr. Goff has ; brought in a nice bunch of cattle. It began snowing here on the lit and the weather has been bad and the wind has blown quite a bit since. High Hullinjer and Niels Neilson have gone to Price tc wjrl.. Mr Powell will rnov. into his new j building before long. ;i 1 o q I MYTON O o John Kapeadomer was in Myton Wednesday buying beef, pork and mutton for his meat market in Sunny Sun-ny Side. He said he found pork in Myton at 15 cents compared to 18 and 19 cents in Millard county. Mr. and Mrs. II. M. Fowler made a trip to Roosevelt on business Monday. Mon-day. Mrs. Hudson, of Roosevelt was a Myton visitor this week. Mr. and Mrs Sulser were in Myton My-ton last Saturday visiting with Mrs. J. E. Holder. |
