G Hunt entitled Influence of the Mind in Healing contained some commendable commendable commendable commend commend- able statements but also left certain false impressions regarding ChristIan ChristIan Christian Christ- Christ Ian Science Therefore by way of correction I respectfully offer this statement for tor publication It was stated that Christian Scientists Scientists Scientists have ave gone so far as to say that there is no such thing as matter matter matter mat mat- ter and that soul and mind are everything every every- thing The following scientific statement of being as found on page of the Christian Science text text- book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy clearly and correctly sets forth the teachings of Christian Science with regard to mind and matter There is no life Ufe truth intelligence nor 1101 substance in matter All is infinite infinite infinite in in- finite mind and its infinite manifestation manifestation manifestation tation for God is in all Spirit is immortal truth matter is mortal er er- er Spirit is the real and eternal matter is the unreal and temporal Spirit is God and man is His image and likeness therefore man is not material he is spiritual In Christian Science Soul Is understood understood under under- stood to be God therefore it teaches that the true substance or soul of the spiritual man is God of demonstration of Christian Science are rightly termed spiritual healings healings healings heal heal- ings and should not be confused with the gentleman's concept of mental healing if It by this this this-lerm term Is meant the influence of the mortal human or carnal mind over oer the body Healing in Christian Science is brought about only through the operation of the divine mind mImI or principle Un fortunately their cures have bees labeled as religious cures Th 7 have deluded their followers t to think that God himself had performed perform perform- ed the cures through them God had nothing shall make mako you free Jno 8 Christian Scientists accept as religious activities the teaching teachings and works of the Master which proclaim proclaim pro pro- proclaim claim God as the author of all good gifts and it is their sincere desire to emulate the example of Jesus in alli all i his ways The scriptures bear record of many healings of the sick the blind the lame the deaf the dumb the Injured ed the sinful as well as the raising of the tho dead by those disciples who had gained sufficient understanding of the Christ principle in accordance with Jesus' Jesus promise to accomplish these cures Surely it Is not unreasonable unreasonable unreasonable to believe that those who today today to to- today day are seeking and gaining this same understanding in Christs Christ's name should be likewise demonstrating this spiritual healing In order to correct the inference made that such cures are not being accomplished today through the spiritual healing of f Christian Science
