A drive has been started by the miners of Horse ' Canyon, Columbia, Kaiser Mines, the Book Cliff and District No. 50 Retail Clerks of East Carbon, for an ambulance r. for this area. The Geneva Mine and Kaiser Mine have been very generous with their ambulance whenever it wa$ needed, but many people feel we should have an ambulance for ' the general public. This drive should be supported by all residents of the. East Carbon area. The ambulance will be given to the hospital to be used for all emergency cases, regardless of where it might be required to go. The drive will be named East .. Carbon Ambulance Drive. Womens Club Members of the Business and Professional Womens Club held their regular meeting on Thursday evening at the East Carbon library. Mrs. Violet Thompson was chairman of the program for the evening, assisted by. Mary Worthington and Esther Tomlinson. The theme was Public Affairs. Nile Washburn of the Carbon College faculty spoke on the work of the Red Cross and his experiences during World War H. Mrs. James Cassano, chairman of the Red Cross in the East Carbon area, presented an interesting . and instructive film on Red Cross work. A musical skit was presented by girls from Mrs. Satterfields sixth grade. Tap dances were presentd by Larry Worthington and Myrtle Morris. Jimmy Sandifer played ah accordion solo and a piano solo. Refreshments were served by the committee in charge. .. Baptist News Mr. Watson was ill and unable to conduct the Sunday services. Lester Rose took charge in his absence Mr. and Mrs. Jack Koskie, Mr. and Mrs. John Watson, Bob Kil crease and Mrs. John Henderson were among the number who went to Moab Friday afternoon when a Baptist church was organized.
