"Life in the Hawaiin Islands was the theme of the month chosen by the scouts for study and the featured program of the evening. Mr. Don Ross was program chairman. He provided two very interesting films on all phases of life on the islands. The Scouts were entertained with a Hawaiian Parade of worriors, dancers and orchestra, complete with colorful musical instruments costumes, and a Hula dance. Ordination Service The Ordaining of our Pastor, Brother John Watson, took place at the First Baptist church on Tuesday evening, April 28, at 4 :30. The examining council included the following Paptist preachers: Brother Ira Marks, Brother Charles Ray, both of Salt Lake City; Brother John L. Smith, Clearfield; Brother Lowe, Ogden; Brother N. M. Crawford, Price, and Brother DuBoise, Dragerton. Deacons : Brother Lester Rose, Brother Jack Rogers and Brother Earl Smoth. After the examination, the services began with singing. Brother Sam Hopkins, leading. Brother Marks, the moderator, offered the opening prayer. The questioning of the pastor was conducted by Brother Chas. Ray. The charge to the church by Brother John L. She has developed a very successful technique and seemingly can handle, a group of 30 dancing youngsters as easily as you would expect her to direct a group of six. Mrs.' Lauriski is a member of the National Association of Dance and Affiliated Artists, Inc. The members of this professional association meet once a month to it exchange ideas and review com-pos- technique. Miners Post Winners The birthday celebration at the Miners Trading Post on May first and second was a tremendous success. Large crowds were in the store during the two days. Last Monday the St. George area was televised over KDYL-TChannel 4, with the natiunai premiere of "Sego Lilly". Many St. George residents, as well as the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, participated in the program. Governor Lee has proclaimed the week of May 4th as "Sego Lilly Week in commemoration of the event. "Sego Lilly is a true incident concerning a pioneer couple which occurrbd in May, 1862. This event highlights faith over human fraiL ty and it became the inspiration for the many pioneer women. The program is scheduled for n over KDYL-TSaturday, V, Ken Webb, a former teacher at East Carbon, has recently been of- fered and has accepted a fellowship given by the Ford Foundation. The fellowship totals $5,500. It is given annually to two teachers in each state for the betterment of education in America. The program submitted by Mr. Webb, and approved- by the Foundation committee in New York, includes travel and study for an period. His program calls for studying at some noted universities on both the east and west coast.
