Carbons small Dinosaurs were badly mauled, and disillusioned fans were not too unhappy to see the game end before East High ran up efti even higher score than the 28 to 7 f.nal. Last Thursday in a' football game at Kiwanis Field in Price, the East Carbon Junior high came out on the short end of a 25 to 7 score. The Price Junior High team used their reserves to good advantage to down the undermanned team from the school at Drager-to- n. his Repeating $ of performance the previous week, little parrel Crawford played his usual brilliant game, making some good runs despite a lack of support from the line. The Lacey brothers, Claude and Earl, showed up well, and Gene Plaga at times gave Carbon fans some hope, but weak spots in the Carbon line, and failure of the Carbon passing attack proved to be the blows that stopped the Dinosaurs. Early m the game East scored, and Carbon bounced right back with a march down the field that appeared to be a cinch to cross the goal line, but a substitute player entered the game for Carbon after they had already decided on a play. There was a recheck of signals, and Carbon was penalized five yards for delaying the game. This stopped the Carbon threat, and East High took command from then on. After building up a 28 to 0 lead, a flock of East High substitutes entered the game, and Car-n was able to score. Gene Plaga took a lateral from Dave Fad-dto score from the one yard line Earl Lacey on the last play in the first half, took the ball from a teammate who had been tackled but hadnt hit the ground, and rpn 55 yards through a horde of East High players to cross the goal line, but the referee ruled the bt is touchdown no good, and- - voided-th- e score. Dragerton Hospital and Staff Prove (Credit to (Community IHSTORY Dragerton Hospital was a part the original plans for the town of Dragerton. In the beginning, however, it was to be only an infirmary for the care of injured mine employees. The hospital as originally planned would not have adequately served its more general use in this area. After carefully studying our probable fu- ture needs, these plans were shelved and the present unit was designed. In July, 1943, the foundation for Dragerton Hospital was laid. The building was completed in January, 1944. No one but those who did it, will ever have any idea of the number of hours of work and planning, the number of miles travelled, the number of people and business houses contacted for the procurement and purchase of equipment and supplies that went into the erection of our institution. Not only were these things done, but many many hours were spent in the placing of this equipment and supplies in an attempt tq put the hospital into operation. Every piece of equipment and every bottle of medicine has a proper place, and every member of the hospital staff has to become acquainted and properly instructed concerning the arrangement of such things. of SERIOUS PROBLEM a hospital The is a The band needs new uniforms. It has been a crying shkme the condition some of the uniforms are in, and then again some, of the members did not even have any. The Rotary Club has gotten back of the band and is raising money to purchase the most glamourous looking uniforms that any junior high band eve had. The first project on the list is a very fine dance to be given this coming Saturday night, Oct. 11. Many parents realizing the good that can be accomplished by an active PTA have been asking for the formation of such an association here in Dragerton. It is believed that at the present time there is a definite need for such an organization in Dragerton. At the meeting scheduled for Wednesday evening a five point program will be discussed. This program is as follows: FIVE POINT PROGRAM - 1. The continued improvement in the scholastic standards of the Dragerton Schoor. 2. The war, of course, did not make our situation any easier. Conditions as they were, made it almost impossible to find equipment and supplies without contacting many surgical houses. Such things came from all sections of our county, state, and in fact the entire country. Dragerton Hospital was ready for occupancy and admitted its first patients on February 23, 1944. Three men patients were admitted that day. It has been open and rendering services to Dragerton and to the communities surrounding it ever since. Dragerton Hospital is as complete a unit, considering its size, as can be found anywhere in these United States. It can be favorably compared with many hospitals serving a much larger population. This opinion has been expressed by no less authority than the medical and hospital committee representing the U. S. Navy. INSIDE TOE HOSPITAL Lets go inside the hospital.
