Clyde, on February 18, and becomes law 60 days following this signing. Important changes listed in the bill and affecting management of fur bearing animals in the state are listed by the department as follows: Muskrat, raccoon and nutria have been removed from the list of furbearers. Beginning the effective date of the new law, they may be taken at any time and without license. One exception is that muskrats on state marshes and other department properties are still strictly under he conrol of the department. The code has been liberalized considerably regarding the removal of problem beaver from private lands and man made waterways. Provision has been made for removal of such beaver by the or tenant during the irrigation seasons by securing a permit without cost ot the user. The provisions covering trapping of beaver also anticipates that open seasons will be declared by the commission during the cold months .when furs are prime. Such seasons will 'be shown in proclamations and would allow trapping of beaver under the states $6 trapping license. Beaver management will remain under the department and all furs taken will need to be tagged by a department representative before they may be kept, sold, transported or shipped. Several other minor changes were made in the furbearer section of the code. The complete new law will be shown In a new printing of the code available by the latter part of May.
