Autocracy, republic and democracy, the two extremes and the golden mean all others are derivatives of thesee.. Autocracy results in tyranny, bondage, oppression, arbitrariness, coercion, submission and reaction. Democracy results in license, impulse, agitation, discontent, anarchy and chaos. The republic, strictly and literally adhered to, results in reason, statesmanship, liberty, contentment arbitration, justice, and progress. The republics are not perfectnothing human is perfect, but there is the same difference between a republic in either a democracy or an autocracy as there is between good and bad. One of the serious aspects of present-da- y tendency is the reckless and inaccurate use of terms. Madison in the Federalist says: The two great points of difference between a democracy and a republic is the delegation of the government in the latter, to a small number of citizens elected by the rest. You are an American, yet do you know? that in a democracy ; the people meet and exercise the government in person; in a re-- a public they assemble and admi- nister it by their representative agents. n I t Yet Do You Know? It doesnt matter when the statement comes, in summer or during the school year. The student asks for classification if he hos not been deferred before. If he has been deferred for school, he should ask for the classification II--S. There should be with the letter of appeal a statement from the school in which the student has been doing college work, also proof that the school has accepted him for enrollment next year. College students who havent made their appeal to enter college must do so before May 23. High school seniors arent getting off scott free either. They must make application to the school they want to enter before May 23 if they will be 18 years old by the end of the summer. The school cannot say for sure to the draft board that the student has been accepted until a formal application has been made and approved. Anyone who may want to make application to any Utah college may secure application papers in be office. Take heed, boys, if yu want to go to school.
