As a result of this the Kaiser Coal Mine at Sunnyside is again shipping coal to Fontana. This will result in Kaiser going on full time schedule again after several months of light operations. Within a few months this large business block will be completed thus affording the people in this area many additional conveniences which they did not previously have. This was the first year for the huge program and it went remarkably well. In the following years we should gain a little each time and it is the firm desire of the committee to make this the best community day n the entire county. It is the present intention that this will be an annual affair. The coal comes by conveyor belt from the preparation plant The coal drops down a spiral chute into a cone shaped pile. Underneath the stockpile of coal is a 48" conveyor belt which takes the coal as needed to a chute which will drop it into' coal cars or into the huge 80 ton McCutcheon trucks for delivery to the Kaiser Coke Ovens. 12,000 tons of coal can be stockpiled here in one pile. The conveyor that takes the coal to the drop chute can unload coal into the rail cars at the rate of 1000 tons per hour. In addition to the mechanized handling of the coal it also allows the stockpiling of coal when no freight cars are available. Thus the mine can stay open and the men working where previously it was necessary to curtail operations when cars were not available. This project was started the last of May and finished this past week. Arrow Auto Line Changes Schedule In order to make connections with the Rio Grande Motorway the Arrow Auto Line has changed its daily schedule. This was done so that East Carbon resident either going out or coming in will be able to make a quioc changeover without a prolonged waiting period.
