Show ' BOXIIOLDER DTn sijEJR Volume 4 Dragerton, Carbon County, Utah, Wednesday, February Reports On Contest Sharon Stoddard, Bess Jones Report Over Radio Baptist Missionary Ladies Have Monthly Meeting Contest winner, Sharon Stoddard, and her advisor, Mrs. Bess Jones, gave a Teport over KOAL to the county on their trip to Salt The Baptist Missionary ladies met for their monthly business meeting at the home of Mrs. Margie Haeck of Sunnydale. After discussing the items of business, a short prayer service was held. The hostess served refreshments to the following members: Mrs. Goldie Dugan, Mrs. Lynn Harper, Mrs. Slema Nelson, Mrs. ora Martin, Mrs. Vesta Sanders, Mrs. Leata Boatwright, Mrs. Ruby Acord, Mrs, Minnie Brandon, Mrs. Veda Morris, Mrs. Esther Bell, Mrs. Esther Springer, Mrs. Irene Weiss, Mrs. Margie Haeck, Mrs. Lorene Mrs. Middleton, Thelma Rogers, Mrs. Myrtle Trebing, Mrs. Bessie Brickner and Mrs. Jewel Parr. The next meeting will be at the home of Bessie Brickner on Feb- Lake to represent Carbon county in the state DAR contest. Some of the questions asked were : Name 10 privileges and rights of a citizen; state the ma- jor differences between Russia s form of government and ours; what do you want to make of yourself? What does the flag stand for? (How does one become a citizen? Ten questions were asked in all, concerning things a good citizen should know - and practice. Mrs. Jones also gave a report about the excellent standing of Carbon students in the debate, speech, oratory sweep-stakcontest held in Salt Lake at the university. To Do Battle For BPOE 1550 Camp Fire Girls Learn Songs Creed The Camp Fire Girls met on Feb. 9 at the home of Mrs. Mark Trotoes. They learned several new songs, a prayer ' and the Camp Fire Creed. Mrs. Bob Bowen assistant to Mrs. Trotoes was in charge of the meeting. Those present were: Sharron Kay Killion, Mary Louise Dan, Judy Wright, Lula Bell Harper and Dorothea Zamora. Junie Lindsey Joins Uncle Sam's Army farewell party was given on January 20, in honor of Manuel Martinez, son of Mr. and Mrs. Genaro Martinez of Dragerton. The subject will be the problem of parent-chil- d relations and particularly the problem of discipline. The speaker will be Prof. Theral Black from U. S. A. C. at Logan. After a short introductory talk, the meeting will be opened to questions from the audience concerning any phase of family life. Prof. Black will be joined in the question period Webb. In keeping with the ancient tradition of that day, pancakes and sausages were served to the church group by Osier Olfen, Edward Ploglajen and Mrs. LeRoy Smith. The Rev. J. R. Nicholas explained that the custom of serving pancakes" on Shrove Tuesday arose in the days when people did not eat eggs during the Lenten season. Thus came our pancakes made with eggs just before the beginning of Lent and Easter eggs at the close. Some of the church school students, for their part in the parish meeting, gave short character sketches of personalities in church history. Those participating were Sharon Day, Irene Day, Glenda Saddler, Marianna Smith, Kay Bon, Faddis Olsen and John Bon. Trinity Guild, the womens organization in the church, completed .the program with a report of its activities and an illustration of its study program presented by Mrs. Robert Nicholas.
