Show "Mr. 0 7 THE SUN SEPTEMBER 5, 2001 WEDNESDAY, r Football team gears up for a season of sucess D S c By Michelle Jackson Feature Editor Earlier last week, Bob Hudson, Sports Editor from the Spectrum, spoke with Coach Croshaw. He said that the game against the Utah All Stars will only be a "dress rehearsal" 'for the really big games. This became apparent as the game began. The Rebels came to the field Saturday night still not sure who their opponent would be. They found that they were playing the Utah All V co Stars. In the first thirty minutes of the game, Rebels own number 22, Joe Lomu, made a yard run, giving Dixie the first points of the game. Dixie played their best and it was more than enough to win, but it wasnt as if they could just say, "Hey, this team doesnt know what theyre doing, we dont have to play our best." Because the Rebels are the team they are, they played their best through out the whole game, winning it, 54 to 16. 41 Randal Miller, Sports Information Director for Dixie college, stated, "It was a good practice- - a good feel of the game-kind- a to break the sweat, play in front of people, and get ready for next weeks game. Everyone at the game Saturday night thought the game was great practice for the Rebels. Bob Hudson, Sports Editor for the Spectrum, said, "It was a good game for the Rebels," letting Coach Croshaw play a lot of people and "show what they can do." Hudson also related that "the defense, in particular, showed it was strong and capable of keeping its opponents under control." Dixie Colleges Head Cheerleader, Elsha Esplin, also commented that "the game was really fun." She also noted, and stressed the importance of the crowd needing to be "a little more excited."
