Student grades will be based upon what their work represents By studying hard, doing their best, students will receive the grade they deserve. At the D.S.C. Week of Welcome (WO.W), the Executive Council familiarized new students to old traditions ,and the council introduced new ones . This new program is one that Dixie hopes will continue in the future. Monday kicked off the week with New Student Onentation; a program that became mandatory this year for new students . The program helped students become more familiar with their resources , and become more comfortable with the campus. The orientation consisted of an assembly which expressed Rebel pnde, explained campus policies, and informed students as to how to get the most out of their education. The students were also given a tour of the campus and were introduced to many of the programs D.S.C. has to offer. Later that evening, COLORS, a band from Logan, performed at the new student barbeque which helped classmates get to know one another. The event was a great success . Classes officially began Tuesday, August 22, with freshman struggling to find their classes and make it through their first day of college. WOW week continued on Wednesday with a Welcome Back Movie Night. The 1999 hit The Sixth Sense was shown to over 500 students. The extra-curncul- Visit us online: wwte.sun.dbde.edu VV Students enjoy all the activitie: during the first week of school movie night helped students get acquainted with one another, and it showed many newcomers how fun attending Dixie can be The Extravaganza, an event which helps promote many organizations and clubs, was held Friday The new Student Advisory Council (S.A C.) handed out slices of bread for a "Slice of Advise." SAC. members listen to student's opinions and take them into consideration. S.A.C. member, Connor Shakespeare talked about his club in the making, "The Bonfire Club " The club would meet once a week on the Utah side of the Anzona strip to hold social bonfires and promote service through litter removal But how do clubs start7 Del Rinquist, of Inter Collegiate Clubs, stated that "Anyone can start a club, however, the club needs to start out with at least ten members The founders of the club also need to fill out paper work and sign contracts to see if the club will pass campus policies." Many students joined the "Club Rush, makthe Extravaganza a huge success. ing WOW week ended on Saturday night with a bang at the football game, when our Rebels beat The First Chance the Utah Dance followed the game with an overwhelming attendance. Both the football game and the dance were great social events that really kicked off the start of the school year Dixie State College Student Body President Wendi Pnnce along with entire student government want "your voices to be heard this year."
