Sy' vfrV- News Editor: Billy Vosburg Hirschi resigns as Economic Development Directoi a Sun News Services Scott Hirschi has resigned director of the Washington County Economic Development Council to pursue personal business interests. Hirschi has held the post since July 1996. 1 am very pleased with the accomplishments of the council during the time that have been at Dixie College. The council now has a complete strategic plan that maps-ou- t nine major goals to be accomplished over the next five years, Hirschi said. as I Each goal has clearly actions, or critical strategies, needed to reach the objective, as well as, a notation of which agency or group has the responsibility to complete each task. He said an evaluation or identified measurement been developed success has for each goal and the complete plan can be reviewed and refined on an annual basis. In to these addition the council has improvements, of strategic plan which developed includes a value statement to guide the councils actions in the expansion and development of the economy in Washington County. The plan establishes an incentive standard for expanding or relocating companies. Escalante Power, Utah State School Trust Lands, and a private development group are making the much needed industrial land available within the city. the plan the industry sectors that both fit the values of the county and the objectives of the company or business. Armed with this strategic plan, the council is now proceeding with the actions needed to accomplish each of its goals, Hirschi said. The council office has been working with a number of companies who have expressed interest in relocating to our area We have also been sup- helped relocate a plastics forming company from Northern California to the Hildale Industrial Park and the company maintains corporate offices in Hurricane. Other projects are under In conjunction, identified porting existing businesses with a number of services to expand and strengthen the local economy. Hirschi cited the planned expansion of the Fort Pierce Industrial Park as a recent advancement for existing businesses.
