Show December 3, 1996 The Dixie Sun Page 3 Rotary Bowl royalty announced SUN NEWS SERVICES New in 1996 to the Dixie Fotary Bowl is the addition of an activity much prettier than a down-andirty football war. The first annual Dixie Rotary d Queen Contest was held Nov. 4, during a luncheon for all members of three southern Utah rotary Clubs. Homecoming queens from all local high schools and Dixie College were invited to participate, knowing that all contestants would participate as members of the Rotary Bowl Court. President Robert Huddleston and principals Craig Hammer, Jim Johnson and Robert Goulding accompanied the queens from their respective schools. Contestants were asked several questions by emcee Max Rose, and following the interviews each member of the Bowl THI AT D I X I Rotary Club cast their vote. Amelia Chipman, and freshman at Dixie was the top College, and was crowned the first Dixie Rotary Bowl queen in the history of the game. Chipman received a $500 scholarship to the school of her choice. She is the daughter of Mark and Joan Chipman of Washington, Utah. She is majoring in education with a minor in music and plans to pursue a career in school teaching with an emphasis in music. Other members of the court received a $100 scholarship to the school of their choice. Attendants include: Ginger Rae Heaton (Dixie High School), Julie Hall (Hurricane High School) and Britani' Kae Cowdin (Snow Canyon High School). The royalty will reign over all the events during the week.
