Gals dressed in all sorts of cosera up tumes from the U. S. and Roman Greek, through 1890s and roaring twenties. The clothes made classes and noon hour very interesting to say the least. After the grueling events the Juniors won the prize of free Jerri McGregor distinguished herself as eater of pies as she dug in with both hands! Fashion Show The fashion show and tea Thurs-- , day afternoon was a real highlight of Girls week. Peggy Hawkins, chairman of the event narrated the clever patter that carried the show along. Huge sketches of fashion through ages decorated the stage as girls from Mrs. Parkinsons sewing classes pivoted and modeled their creations. Various sections of fashions showed school clothes, cottons, match-matewools, violets .and pinks, and after five and evening wear. Handsome escorts squired the gals about the stage. Diane Renchler looked pink and pretty in a cotton play suit set off by a flower covered hat; and Dorothy Rice and little Tammy Esplin modeled matchmates of cotton. Virginia Anderson wore a dainty lavender evening dress; Uene Harmon modeled a smart bronze brocade and Viola Ashby looked regal in her floor length dress. Banquet The banquet and dance was a real ball. Gals and guys attending the festivities were Linda Slade and Milton Frei; Vicki Spilsbury and Joe Schmutz; Donna Widic and Melvin Lowes, Donna Graff and Max Jones; Sally Olsen and Randy Peterson, and Nadine Whitehead and Charles Randall. The club has been meeting bimonthly since last fall, working on proposals and parlimentary procedure and studying about Nicaragua. The Dixie club proposed six bills for improving the United Nations, but only one of these made the final agenda, and it failed to pass. s, Dear Editor: What is the purpose of our new election policy? It is to establish candidates who have the interest and initiative to fill out their own applications, and handle their own campaigns. This should be our main criteria upon which to base our votes. When they should run on this basis, why should faculty members single out students and pressure them into filing for office? Dixie College has done much for its students but, after all, we pay tuition for our privilege of getting the most out of school scholastic-ally- . In my opinion, we owe our time more to our school studies acthan we do to tivities. Those candidates who have the time, energy, and interest for the job are those and only those who should run and they must decide this for themselves. The faculty should not interfere. extra-curricul- ar Maryann Savage STAFF OF THE DIXIE SUN Published by the Studentbody of Dixie College Anita Wilson Editor Paul Hunt Campus Jeff Allred Sportts Editor Joan Esplin Society Exchange Nancy Rushton, Viola Ashby Business Manager Kay Hanson LaVoy Hafen Photographer Sports Writers: Jerome Gourley, Ron Everett, Darrel Buhanan Reporters: Laurel Webb, Sally Olson, Jerri McGregor, Ruth Ann Hafen, Editor Club Goes fo Salt Lake noon-hou- One girl who deserves some appreciation right now is a Margaret girl the awards committees missed, yearbook editor Fawson.
