His work has been chiefly with band and orchestra groups, but he has taught harmony, music theory and appreciation, and chorus. He conducted a dance orchestra from the fall of 1916 to the spring of 1939. Each one of these teachers also has a service record in church and civic organizations, which has helped to establish satisfactory public relations between the school and the community. Mr. Woodbury and Mr. Hafen have served as city councilmen and Mr. Woodbury served two terms as mayor of St. George. He was also a member of the Chamber of Commerce board of directors, and served as Justice of the Peace, and for a number of years was president of the St. George and Washington Canal company. Mr. Hafen served as secretary and board member of several irrigation companies and was superintendent of Washington county schools just prior to consolidation. Mr. Woodbury was the first president of the student body at Dixie and participated in the first debates held at this school. Mr. Reid was also a member of the board of directors of the Chamber of Commerce and was the first president of the P.T.A. in Washington county. For twelve years Mr. Reid was ranger naturalist, and for one or two years acting chief naturalist in Zion national park. Reid and Mr. Woodbury both served as missionaries, Mr. Reid for a short term in the central states and Mr. Woodbury served nearly five years in the Orient. Both of them and Mr. Hafen have been members of the St. George stake High Council, and Mr. Reid was a member of the stake Sunday school and the M.I.A. stake board. He was also a ward superintendent of Sunday schools and a teacher for many years in the various organizations, especially in Sunday school and Mr. the M.I.A. Mr. Woodbury was also a member of the stake M.I.A. presidency and was superintendent of Sunday schools and a teacher in Priesthood and Sunday school for many years. Mr. Hafen has been in church service continuously during his teaching career; for many years he was stake superintendent of religion classes, a teacher in the Teacher Training groups of the ward organizations and also first counselor and ward bishop for ten years and was later ordained Stake Partriarch. Mr. Bleak has prepared and DIXIE JOURNALISTS pre- sented musical numbers in the wards and stakes and acted as chorister in Sunday school and Sacrament meetings and was secretary of the High Priests Quorum and a member of the A Future' PAGE THREE CHATTER College Basketball V. A. A. In Shorts Schedule November 21 a group of Dixie girls traveled to Cedar City to play volley ball with a team from B.A.C. Ten girls made up the Dixie team.
