He has warmth of the sunshine of try to follow it. Let us give to all, the ad those wit our hearts, and make Christmas day brighter for whom we mingle. As we mark the approach of Christmas we ar filled with the Yuletide spirit, a spirit, the essence of which we cannot comprehend or explain in mere words. We realize only that the spiiit to peivade oui causes a general feeling of kindliness and good-wiBecause tnis actions. and our dominate to and thoughts beings from our spirit has to find expression our thoughts are diverted the spirit of own selfish interests and we enter heartily into true significance of Christmas giving. But do we understand the realize that a single kind the spirit of the gift? Of course we and love sacrifice, the soul of devoword, embodying the spirit of the lovely token daintily tied tion, is often a more valued gift than Christmas seals. Beadorned with and up in Christmas paper and because it finds utterance its love of motivates cause that the its way not only into the homes of our nearest and dearest friends but down every chimney, into the darkest rooms, into hospitals and into homes all over this big world, its value is greqtly enhanced. Christmas giving should never be allowed to become a financial drudge for then the intrinsic value or the spirit of the gift is destroyed, rather the practice be abolished. We should give gifts within our means that the Christmas spirit may be perpetuated and that the gift may continue to be symbolic of love, sacrifice and devotion. ll Christmas giving is not a matter of giving gifts, but of giving joy. If some little thing will bring more joy to a person than a ton of coal, give that person the things that he will enjoy. Christmas is a day for love and peace and happiness, and if toys will make the child happy, and rings and wrist watches make others happy, there is really wisdom in giving such gifts. The giver will not be remembered by the gift he gives, but for the joy it brings to the receiver. How much more happiness a child receives from a toy than from a pair of shoes or stockings. Shoes and stockings are common-plac- e things and can be given at any time throughout the year, but toys are different. They are the rare treats in the life of the child, and the happy memories of such treats will always remain with the child. Clothing as gifts are soon forgotten by the child. What is true of the child is usually true of grown-upand as Christmas comes but once a year why not make that day a rare and happy one ? s, Wasn t it fun when we used to believe in a mysterious old Santa Claus and look forward for months to those happy surprises ? Has anything ever brought quite so much joy or happy excitement and anticipation as Christmas Eve? Why grow away from it? Of course there is a real Santa Claus and surprises and excitement, and Christmas trees and stockings, and toys and candy. If there weren t a Santa where would Christmas fun come from and a real Old St. Nick with the real Christmas too ? Why spoil spirit it all with the sophisticated notion that we are grown up, that that sort of Christmas is for kids ? Lets not grow up. Lets make Christmas joys grow with us. ! !
