Show September 22, 1959 THE DIXIE SUN THREE Policies of Student Affairs Committee School Lunch Regulations Told by School Board The student affairs committee is the tie between the Associated Students of Dixie College and its .'acuity. Its responsibilities are as follows: A. To coordinate the activities of the two groups that one might 1. complement the other. B. To give continuity to student government. C. To regulate and enforce the constitu'ion of the Associated Students of Dixie College. D. To appoint faculty sponsors for each class. 2. Although this committee is, in he main, a liaison committee, there are areas in which it has both the responsibility and the authority for decisions. One such area involves situations in which infractions of the constitution occur. When such are reported it is the duty of the committee to: A. Make such investigations as are necessary to get all the relevant facts available. B. Make sure that both sides of the problem are explored and that all students involved have an opportunity to state their case. 3. The committee shall determine the areas within which the student council shall logically be expected to act. 4. At best the student members of the committee cannot be expected to be acquainted with all of the traditions of the college. Here the faculty members can, and should, serve a most useful function. The records in the office of the Dean of Students are a most valuable adjunct in this respect. 5. Although the committee does not usually make decisions which are within the logical province of the Student Council, alternative solutions to problems may be suggested bv this body and should be welcomed even if they are not agreed to bv those present. 6. There may logically be times when the committee, or the student council for that matter, may in the interest of time wish to refer some problem to a special committee to study it and make recommendations. Here again the final decision should not be presumed until the student council has acted upon it.
