The Ghastly Find that was flade Last Sunday flornlng by two Cedar Boys. (Iron County Record.) Last Monday Sheriff Froyd and Attorney Ryan were summoned to Modena to investigate the case of a man who, it was alleged, had commited suicide at or near that place the day previous. The gentlemen lost no time in answer- ing the call, and upon their arrival were confronted by the following situation: They found the body of a man lying there who had died some time Monday forenoon, and who had been brought to Modena by Samuel Bauer and Franc Thorley, two young men of our city, who were out in that part of the county herding sheep. The young men had explained to the authorities at Modena that on Sunday morning Bauer noticed some strango creature wallowing about in the short brush at a distance from his camp. It was too far away for him to make sure as to what it was, and as Thorley, who was camped not far away, had field glasses, he went to his camp to get them to try to discover the nature of the strange apparition. By the aid of the glasses they could see that it was a man that appeared to he in distress of some sort, and to he partly walking and partly crawling. They t once made their way to him and found he was suffering from a terrible wound in the throat. Closer inspection showed them that the windpipe was severed and that he was breathing through the wound. lie was unable 10 walk, but otherwise seemed to be in possession of all his faculties of mind. When asked who inflicted the wound, he pointed to himself, explaining by means of signs that he had done it last night with an old case knife. As he had lost a great quantity ot blood it was not a difficult matter to follow the course he had taken in his ramblings since the wound was inflicted, and at no great distance . they found an old case knife with the point broken off, and seemed to have been recently sharpened on some rough substance. The young men secured a team as soon as possible and took the sufferer to Modena, distant about six or seven miles from the place where they found him. When the party reached Modena Mr. Thomas A. Flood of Fay was immediately called by phone and deputy sheriff Overholt of Staleline was sent for. In the meantime, in answer to the question What is' your name? the wounded man wrote on a Impiece of paper William Wren. adDr. Flood on his arrival mediately ministered an anesthetic and dressed the wound applying suitable bandages and condileaving him in a tion. but apparently restful. No statement was made by the unfortunate man of the cause of his assault upon his life, and the reason can only be surmised. Basing his opinion on certain scents that came from the wounded throat, the Dr. said to the officers it was probably that he was recovering from a protracted spree and that while walking from Milford to where he was found he had concluded to destroy a life which he felt was a burden. As the evidence was so clear that it was a case of suicide, the attorney decided an inquest was unnecessary, and the body was interred in the neighborhood of Modena. Deceased was about forty years old, light complexion, with brown hair and mustache, weighed about 150 pounds, and stood about five feet, seven or eight inches high. Dr. Flood made out a certified statement of the situation in whicli he found the man.charac ter of the wound, and the treatment he applied, which will be filed in the office of the county clerk of this county, For the Quarter Ending March 12th 1904. D-- k There is little joy in living when the disordered nerves prevent sleep and rest; when one wakes from a restless night more tired than the night before; when one is forced to drag through the round of daily dulies without energy, ambition oi interest. This condition is due to a derangement of the nerves which may be speedilv regulated and strengthened by Dr. Miles' Restorative Nervine. This remarkable medicine has a wonderful record of cures. Supplying as it does the exact element needed for the restoration of the nerve force and vitality, its good effects are felt after the first few doses. I have used your remedies myself and in my family for the past seven years and it is not too much to say that they saved my life. The tired feeling I used to have after giving a few music lessons has left me entirely and instead of lying in bed three or four hours trying to get sleep and then getting up .and walking the floor until morning, I can now go to bed and s'eep eight, ten and twelve hours without any trouble. W hen I think of my former nervous, wretched, irritable state I want to tell everyone what Dr. Miles Nervine has done for me. I can do as much work now in a day as 1 used to take a week to accomplish. I think Dr. Miles Nervine is the best remedy for nervousness and general debility on earth. L. D.
