Show DEATH EATH OF BISHOP KIMBALL A private dispatch from Kanosh t Millard County received here at an early hour Sept Hept 25 announced the death at that place of Bishop Abram A Kimball lJ who expired relatives de- de desirous desirous de desirous sirous of attending be notified but buts s it may safely be presumed that the cause of his death was his old com com- complaint complaint complaint plaint consumption from which he her r had bad been a sufferer many years I In n fact it was tor for this reason that he was pardoned by President Cleve Cleve- Cleveland Cleveland Cleveland land last December and released from the penitentiary where he was t serving a term for unlawful cohabitation cohabitation cohabitation tation at a time when his death seemed imminent Abram A Kimball was the son of the late President Heber C Kim Him Kimball ball Kirn-ball ball and his wife Clarissa Cutler He was born lorn at Winter Quarters K now Florence Nebraska in the year 1846 soon after the exodus of the Latter-day Latter Saints from Nauvoo The following interesting passage from the Life Lite of or Heber C Kim Rim Kimball Kimball ball t tells in brief a portion of the story of his life Among his Heber's Is wives when he came out of Nauvoo were Cla Cla- Clarissa Clarissa Clarissa rissa and Emily Cutler sisters both the daughters of Alpheus Cut Cut- Cutler Cutler Cutler ler who left the Church while at aty y Winter Quarters When the Saints z removed to the Rocky Mountains Clarissa and Emily remained with r their father each with an infant son in arms Clarissa's s 's child was named Abram A and Emily's Isaac Isaac A Feeling impressed that their mothers would never come cometo cometo cometo to the mountains Heber on C leaving them to go west with the Pioneers bes blessed ed his little sons and while his hands we weir were up- up upon upon up upon on Abrams Abram's head bead prophesied th he would some day come to the home of his people and would afterwards return for his brother Isaac There was a fatality in his fathers father's 1 words as usual Fifteen years later the mothers of both Y u boys being dead Abram came to Utah and joined the Church He was baptized by Enoch Reese him an Elder and set him apart for a mission to the States to go and bring his brother to Utah thus re sealing re the blessing bestowed upon him himin himin himin in his childhood Abram fulfilled d his mission and returned bringing his brother with him bim Isaac also was baptized and he and Abram afterwards went upon missions to Great Britain The latter is now November 1888 Bishop of Ka- Ka Kanosh Kanosh nosh Ka-nosh nosh Millard County Utah Prior to his mission to Europe or his appointment as Bishop of Kanosh he look took part in what is known as the Muddy Mission in f Utah During its hard hard- hardships hardships hardships ships of which he was heath a patient and faithful sharer his health de- de declined de declined lined and the ailment developed which finally terminated his life Like his father before him many of whose noble qualities he inherit inherit- inherited inherited inherited ed he obeyed the celestial law of marriage before interdicted by the Edmunds Act of 1882 He le l e was tried and convicted of unlawful cohabitation co- co cohabitation co cohabitation habitation that is for living with his plural wife and being sen sen- sentenced sentenced sentenced by Judge Judd in the First District Court at Provo to six months imprisonment In the Utah Penitentiary was incarcerated there on November 3rd 1888 His health failed so rapidly while in prison where however he was treated with every consideration consideration consideration tion that circumstances would allow that efforts were made by his rela rela- relatives relatives relatives tives in this in that respect much resembling that of his sire and possessed a fund of humor and drollery that made him a pleasant and welcome companion wherever he be went As a missi missionary nary be he dis- dis
