Show OBITUARY NOTES ELIZA ANN FERN ALLEN NEPHI jan 22 1895 eliza ann fern allen alien was born december 1 1831 in billington lin gion Bedford shire england she was baptized in december 1846 by elder hawkins emigrated in 1851 married to william W allen ailen on december 13 1852 in salt lake by bishop hill she was wag the mother of six 6 sons and six 6 daughters of which five fire sons and one daughter are now living she had fourteen grand children she was a member of the relief belief society for many years she died on the of january 1895 at Nephi aged 63 years month and 17 days RULO NALBERT BRANDLEY RICHFIELD jan 16 1895 rulon alfred brandley died at his parents home in richfield sevier county on monday january 14 1895 at 8 am he was the son of theodore and mary A brandley was born at rih field december 20 1876 while his father was on a mission to switzerland and germany last september he desired to enter the B Y academy and became a faithful student of that institution which he loved very much on december 21 he reached home to open spend the holidays and while a little indisposed spa ad enjoyed himself greatly among his Is many any friends and on sunday december 23 he bore his testimony for the first time in public meeting having previously been ordained a deacon he was that day in connection with other students ordained a teacher he took sick on new years night while attending a social party the malady which attacked him was nervous prostration from the very beginning of his sickness he was in constant communion with his departed mother claiming that he was wanted on the other side he manifested great faith in the administration of the elders and in the power of prayer and thus was perfectly willing to submit to the summons from the other world he was a kind and dutiful son mind and brother with a loving disposition which won lor for him many kind friends among cow young oung and old his death is in a seve re blow to his father and relatives who have the sincere sympathy of a host of friends in their bereavement the funeral took place on wednesday Jan january tary at noon the services were held at ai the meeting house JOHN COLLINS 6 OGDEN jan 22 1895 elder john collins was called away to a brighter life january 13 1895 from the infirmities of ag increased during the last four fo ur years by the pains of sciatica and cancer he was born at the city of bath Somerset shire england october 21 1826 during his childhood he exhibited a remarkable talent for music and at the age of fourteen years he joined the band of the north somerset cavalry as a drummer boy remaining in the regiment for about thirty years he filled the offices of sergeant major and deputy band bandmaster maister also was appointed trumpeter to the bath troop which position he held until the time of his emigration tion to bah he was led to the investigation of the gospel through the labors of elder thomas brown ot of north ogden and was brought by the spirit ot of truth to render obedience to its power he was baptized october p 1849 together with his bis wife his brot brother her and his bis sister by the late bishop abraham marchant marcham of geoa peoa in 1874 he emigrated to utah traveling in the company under elder lester J herrick Herr iok of ogden and settled in W west weber where he resided until aba about three years ago when on the death of his first wife he removed to ogden liv ing in the first ward a quiet ona uain ing patient life under trying and nd painful conditions arising from the n nature ture of his afflictions numerous friends and relatives of the deceased assembled on the lust in a the first ward meeting hoube ogden iz to pay their last respects to the honored dead among the speakers were bishops M F brown and mcfarland elders george F hunter john manning thom thoa Et berington and wm also elder 0 F middleton of the weber stake presidency A noble testimony was borne to 10 his character its quiet nature and unassuming ways wave the honest truthful and u wis upright right spirit shown in all his actions his was a great and noble spirit and as such he left the impress of his talents ta lerita wherever he mingled with his brethren long will his bis memory be remembered among the musical talent of the country as the father and organizer of brass bands his spirit was full ot of harmony and all who sought his advice rec received elvea the best beat ot of counsel his faith was unwavering and firm he neld last to the iron rod having a steady unswerving faith which nobly endured all things unto the end constant calm fearing nn boldly persevering in good conscience steering the funeral cortege was preceded by the ogden city brass band as a mark of respect due to his memory and talents millennial star please copy jos McL ACHL |
