' i U f. y- - i ?' v, ' 4 A. r DUGWAY DAYS 84 was a crashing good time for everyone thanks in part to Wayne Rider of the Utah Highway Patrol who gave anyone who wanted to the opportunity to see do indeed work in the Seat Belt Convincer which simulates an 8 mph crash. The smells and sounds of Dugway Days are a story in themselves, from the mouthwatering aroma of sizzling burgers being grilled by the dads of BSA Troop 481, and the chicken and Dutch oven potatoes of the LDS youth to taco stand, the the Band's snow cones, the Cheerleaders, ice cream, the bake sale and nachos of the Relief Society or the sweet confec-toin- s offered by the Dugway Womens Club cake walk and the LDS youth candy, all provided diet wreckers that were eagerly consumed by the hungry crowd. Troop 481 operated a dart throw, the ACS volunteers wandered about as pocket ladies, the Relief Society ran die dude pond and ring toss, Pony Express Toastmasters spent the day with their clown throw booth, bther diversions were provided by the PTA rah pond, the 6501st beat up two former patrol cars for the cause, and Tech Escort ran a putting green. Safety and Security were well represented. Wayne Rider of the Utah Highway Patrol had a convincing way of persuading us to wear seat- belts by bringing us to a jolting stop from 8mph on his "convincer". Bud Hambleton of the Salt Lake Sheriffs Of- fice amazed us with the antic? of Ed the talking (and singing) sheriffs car. Sheriff; Marion Carter brought his two new BMW motorcycles ' , . i LtCol.
