Deck the houses with lioughs Yes it is that time of the year again, time to decorate houses and dorm rooms, trees outside houses and any thing else that you can think of to decorate. Some of the people of Dugway are getting into the Christmas Spirit by decorating their houses with evergreens and many outdixir lights. Because of the few people that are decorating, the Sampler Staff has decided to hold a contest for the liest decorated house in Dugway. All you have to do to qualify is to hang any type of decoration in the front of your house, in your trees, on your roof or any other place you would like to hang anything. Unfortunately there cannot le any prizes awarded for this contest. The only reward is the satisfaction that your decorating job was judged by the Deseret Sampler as the liest in Dugway. Our roving reporter will lie on. the prowl checking the progress on the decorations during the next two weeks and evaluating each display. The winning display of the contest will be photographed and placed in the Sampler in the Januof holly. ary H issue. The contest has liegun so he on the lookout for the roving reporter he may catch you decorating your house. Friday, December 12, 1969 Zero Defects Program Pays Off Communications Receives Award mmmmmm The military war on long hair and sideburns escalated a notch this week. In a change to command policy regulations, the Anny is calling for the use of cold steel on sideburns. sideburn strateThe anti-lon- g gy will be included in change 6 the command to AR 600-20- , policy regulation. It accomplishes the sideburns attack with only three words: "The hair will to include sideburns will be well groomed, cut short or medium length and neatly trimmed at all times. Faces will le clean shaven, with the exception that wearing a neatly trimmed mustache is permitted." As has been traditional, the Anny is not suggesting any specific length or size on the subject of hair and sideburns. Unit commanders have the authority to judge short and medium lengths and appearance standards may vary among units. The ruling follows by about two months the Army's decision to permit haircuts that are neat and medium length. To he acceptable the Afro must be short enough to fit under caps and helmets. In May of 1968 the Army gave way to allow soldiers to wear neatly trimmed mustaches. Ft. Douglas, Ut 84113 DESERET TEST CENTER v The Communications Division here has liecn awarded the Zero Defects Certificate in recogni tion of its achievement in having zero defects for the month of October. Mr. Jack YV. Milne, Chief, Communications Division, received the certificate from Air Force Captain Jack King, QIC of the Norton AFB Automatic Digital Integrated Net work (AUDODIX) Center. The only way this Certificate can lie earned is for the station to transmit all outgoing messages without error, either operator or equipment caused. Since there are approximately 50 possibilities for error each time a message is prepared and sent, yon can get an idea of the magnitude of this achievement by multiplying the for error by the possibilities iiimilicr of messages submitted into the AUTODiX system by the Communications division. Mr. Milne credits the achievement to the active Zero Defects program carried out by his personnel and gives siwcial recognition to Mrs. Jo Magann, a data communications socialist, for her outstanding contributions.
