Sam McEvoys team captured first place; John McBrides team took second; Ted McIntoshs team took third; and Mark Hereiins team ended up in fourth place. V School 99 Election Day 899 1299 1899 1499 699 9 iiv Dugway High by Chris Raychel Dugway High School in a school-wid- e national election on Monday, Novemlier 4, chose the Republican, Richard Nixon. The purpose of this election, conducted by Mr. Hardings American History class was to see how the students of Dugway High School would vote. THE ELECTION started at 8:45 a.m. with a political rally through the halls of Dugway High. The band led the way playing both the Republican and Democratic theme songs. The band was followed by the campaigners who carried signs and encouraged students to vote for their candidate. Shortly after the rally the campaigners were told to choose a room and wait until they were given the ballots to present to the classes. One person passed out the ballots to the students, as well as the teachers, while the other person explained that voting was only straigjit-lsallpermitted. After the voting, lwllots were collected and taken luck to the American History room where the campaigners were allowed to vote. THE CLASS was then separated into eight groups of three to four members which had different jolss to perform. One person put a large X through the ballot to show that it wss corrected, the second person read off the Isallot to the third person who tallyed the votes. The voting went as follows: Richard M. Nixon - 1M; Huliert H. Humphrey - 79; George C. Wallace - 30. The first game was played at 4:00 and the second one at 6:(X). These games gave everyone a chance to play and gives everyone a chance to go out for the team. THROUGH these games, the coaches are able to pick the Varsity and Jr. Varsity teams. Admission was charged for all the games. The money was used to buy medals and trophys for the winning teams.
