Show The Sampler, Aug. 23, 1984 Dugwayites recognized by Tooele Chamber by S. Shappee Beeler Based upon contributions to the betterment of life at this remote military installation, Tooele County, Utah; Chamber of Commerce recently took the time to pay tribute to the work of two members of the Dugway com- Dugway's outdoor recreation specialist. They moved to Dugway roughly a year ago from Spanish Fork. Susan is a very talented young woman; an accomplished dancer - she was a member of the BYU Folk Dancers for two years. She munity. currently supervises the morning exercise classes at SSG Warren Stone, mili- tary assigned to Dugway, was commended for the many: hours of personal time spent supporting the sports program at the county high school located at Dugway. Stone is presently assigned as a chemical staff specialist and hopes to soon gain acceptance to Officer Candidate School. Epitomizing the military's ideals for soldiers, he strives to improve his physical conditions with weight training and soon will participate in a locally held triatha-lon.- - New Principal for DES Shaping the minds of Dugways young people will be the job of this lady. Dr. Ellen Hurst is the new principal of Dugway Elementary School. She also has committed herself to helping fill this space in the next and subsequent issues of the Sampler as the Elementary School News returns . . . Dont forget. . . School starts Sept. 4. He also accompanied the past Public Affairs Officer, Dick Whitaker, on many away basketball trips, sometimes spending most of this y hours drivevening to remote towns. He is a varied person, concerned with the betterment of his mind and body, the enjoyment of nature while camping and rock climbing, and the best hunting of all . . . shooting with a camera. Re-enlistm- ent RE-U- P win-los- ! Chamber award is Susan Fox. Susan is the wife of Van Fox, Dugway. She has taught dance classes to youngsters in youth activity classes held this summer. She volunteers actively . because she feels that it is better to giye than to stay at home and complain. Many wives and spouses assigned to this remote installation feel alone in their misery. Susan feels that if coaxed out of their quarters, these folks would find friends and be able to make their stay at Dugway an enjoyable and memory-packe- d assignment. Husband and family are a vital part of Susan's life. She enjoys being at home during the growing years for her family. With family as close as Spanish Fork, trips to this southerly local are frequent. Susan doesnt especially like to be the focus of attention. She feels that while the military member of Dugway from Chairman of the Tooele Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Committee, Rev. John Metzig. . service she gives is good and important, she is only doing what should be done. MSometimes attendance is low at the sessions, but as long as someone shows up and wants to get moving, Im more than willing to work Susan holds an LPN license, having received her training at Utah Technical College. She expresses interest in returning to finish up her BSN someday, but for now she is content to stretch her muscles and mind in dance and exercise classes, striving to bring a little muscle tone and a friendly smile to the folks at Dugway. with them!"
