I 'V-- Science fair accomplishments The Dugway Elementary Science Fair was held on Tuesday March 6. Participants from grades 6 competed in three major areas: physical, earth, and biological sciences. Our distinguished judges were Greg Frank, Rich LeClerc, and Jon Mills.. Competition was tough this year but six students emerged as grand prize winners. These included: Grades 3 Division: Biological Science - Matt Andrus Earth Science - Annie Vernon Physical Science - Shad Stoddard ROBYN McCOWEN from the DPG Safety Office accepts a check from DWC president, Marilyn Housely for the 19 RCA XL100 color television that is the first prize In the 1-- Commander's Seatbelt Campaign which starts today. Looking on are Dugway Post Exchange employee Beverly Shupe and Civilian Welfare Fund custodian, Debbie ZumwalL The Civilian Welfare Fund shares in the concern over seatbelt usage, and has donated some quality calculators to be r awarded as prizes. 1-- Grade 4--6 Division: Biological Science - Janet Jqhnson Earth Science - Aaron Bailey Physical Science .Ray Bugbee -- Other district qualifiers included: Bryan Bailey, Jamie Stoddard, Marcie Morgan, Juliette. Mestas, Daniel Morgan, Glen Larsen, Bobby McAllister, Suzi Vastano, Cindy Lee, Shelley Carruth, Bernard Ortiz, Steve Holman, Deanne Boyer, and Peggy Rising. All twenty students participated in the District Fair at Tooele Jr. High on March 8. V 'Vv-V,- -- v J by Bob Pagnani January 9 - March 14j 1984, the U.S. Army Health Clinic along with Weber State College conducted an Emergency Medical Technician course. This course consisted ing, cardio-pulmonar- . Smity, Tony Zakotnik. resuscita- y tion, use of traction, splints, backboard straps. The main instructor was' Robert Pagnani, the Ambulance Section Leader at the Health Cline. Other instructions were given by Dr. George Philbin, Dr. Steve of 150 hours, 9 college Credit hours, of classroom and practical situations. The following topics which were coverd in the class were: anatomy, physiology, respiratory system, Kopitzke, Mr. Gilchrist, Mrs. Hebert, R.N., Adele and Ned Allison, EMT instructors and at the health dine, Mr. Walt Szarek, Royal Holter, Arthur People who attended this class put in 16 hours of classroom work per week. Classes were held Monday 0 p.m.. Dug-way- s Fire Department also joined in for an auto extraction demonstration. There were 22 people who started the class and only one person dropped out due to work schedule. This group of people included individuals from many different back- 6-1- p.m. and Friday It was a long three months and everyone involved should be commended for the effort they put forth. Of the 22 taking the course, 14 of the individuals will be taking the state and national EMT certi- Wed 3 grounds.
