Show J 5 Quality Something Serious from the dog house O a Fashions Reasonably . Priced Crime Prevention Week 84 The Provost Marshal Office Crime Prevention Section gathered all the crime statistics for the first of the fiscal year 1984quarter and has discovered that larcenies have actually decreased 33 percent, compared tp the same period in FY 83. The first month of the 2nd quarter (January) we suffered two larcenies, which should be considered two, too many; (Oct.-Dec- .) however, with only seven weeks remaining in this quarter, it appears that we will continue with our down trend for the second quarter. On the other hand, damage or destruction to private or government property has increased by 10 percent ' over the same reporting period in 1983. This increase is generally attributed to mischief which many times involves vandalism. On the alcohol and drug side of the house there has been a significant decrease of 54 percent during the same reporting period. The decrease in the majority of our crime areas can be attributed to a combined effort of the residents of DPG and its law enforcement officers. Although there is still room for improvement, we as a community can take pride in knowing that out individual and collective efforts have paid us dividends. The Army has established 8 as the week of Feb. 12-1- Crime Prevention Week. Although the Army identifies this period as crime prevention week, we should keep in mind that each of us owe it to ourselves, family and neighbors to be alert and keep ah eye out for the thief throughout the year. We are doing t. ,i. .it J t well in the areas mentioned, but must also realize that with a little effort, we can do a whole lot better. All we have to do is give a darn. MPs will make themselves available on an increasing basis to assist all the residents at Dugway. Lets remember - the relationship between crime prevention and safe wholesome environ-- , ment in which we live and work should be reinforced during National Crime Prevention Week.
