CARROTS;.-- -. NBC shows shows premiered on NBC this season and three Eight of them will be back. Including America among those shows isnt fair, but it won't be back either. Hec Ramsey" debuted to fill out the Sunday Mystery Movie and it proved that the western is not dead despite the cancellation of Bonanza. Richard Boone does a good job sheriff with new ideas about law as a and order. It will be back. The Little People" with its name changed to The Brian Keith Show will be back as the second .of the returning shows. The format should remain unchanged. NBC came up with the Wednesday Mystery Movie this year with Banecek, Cool Million, and Madigan as its three components. Banecek will be the only (me of the trip to return. It has been gpod acting and scripting with occasional but then why not. Madigan was also a good show with die very able Richard Widmark in the title role. Cool Million left something to be desired. Search, Banyon, and Circle of Fear are all headed for the land of no reruns as they deserve to be. Search and "Banyon bordered (m believability without touching on it frequently. Circle of Fear wasn't supposed to be for real and it wasn't a bad show at times. All in all it looks like CBS may have the edge in the coming season, but of course, it is too early to tell, and the viewer is ultimately the one who determines which shows stay on the air. Tomasello The cancelled Julie Andrews Hour" (ABC) came away from this year's Eininy Awards with more statuettes than any other nominated show. The Andrews hour was nominated 10 times and picked off seven of the awards including best variety musical series. The Waltons", CBSs surprise hit, was chosen best drama series over shows such as Hawaii Five-O- , Columbo, and Mannix. Richard Thomas and Michael Learned were voted best actor and actress (respectively) in a drama series. Both are from The Waltons; the show received six Emmys altogether. In the comedy category, The Mary Tyler Moore 9iow won Emmys for supporting actor (Ted Knight), supporting actress (Valerie Harper) and leading actress (Mary Tyler Moore). Jack Klugman of The Odd Couple" was selected leading actor in a comedy. News and documentary categories had their own night for the first time in the history of the television academy and CBS was the overall winner with 11 awards, NBC garnered three, and ABC received two. In the docu nentary segment, NBC won two Emmys, ABC two, and DBS two. Another look Continuing with a second look at the already reviewed shows, lets turn to CBS shows. CBS gave the public, seven new shows for the season and five will lie back for a second season. Bridget Loves Bemie started off the season like gangbusters by breaking into the top ten of the Nielson ratings which is what usually makes or breaks a show, but for some reason the show was cancelled. B. Loves B. thrived on schmaultz, which in and of itself is not bad, but too much can kill you. The show was also billed as a comedy and laughs were few and far between. Bob Newhart will be back. The first show was not the best ever done but with succeeding shows the scripts and actors blended together and improved greatly. The Newhart show will follow Mary Tyler Moore next season with an excellent chance of placing first in its time period. UMASH will also be back and this time it will follow All in the Family." ABC and NBC are going to have a hard time breaking CBSs hold on Saturday night with Carol Burnett" rounding out the night. Of course The Waltons will Ire track again opposite Flip Wilson" Thursday nights with a new show from ABC called Toma on at the same time. Bill Cosby was lost in the shuffle and unfortunately wont be back. One of Cosbys better efforts in the past few years, he had a true variety show but not enough viewers. Then theres Maude which will Ire back. I didn't like this show at first and I still don't even though there are humorous segments at times. Maybe its just the onslaught of All In The Family type shows that have made me dislike the format. Barnaby Jones was a replacement for Anna and the King and Sandy Duncan, and CBS would have been better off keeping the latter two shows. Hopeitself. fully Barnaby will be replaced in i 89c s 67 1.04 68 36 m . Certificates of Appreciation Specialist 5 Douglas M. Flagg, Finance and Accounting Division, and Specialist 4 Anton J. Schubert, 65th Military Police Platoon, received Certificates of Achieve- ment May 30 prior to their release from active military service. LtCol. John E. Adams, post executive officer, made the presentations. Flagg was cited for his service as a pay specialist and accounting specialist. Schubert was recognized for meritorious service as a military police patrol supervisor and provost marshal investigator. ( |
