Montreal at a cost of $25 million. Comparing their job on the summer Olympics last year and NBCs effort on the winter games, its good to know that ABC will be in Mon-trea- L CBS did a good job on the National Hockey League games last year but lost the contract to NBC. After expecting a poor job from NBC, I was pleasantly surprised to see them do an outstanding job of reporting and camera work. College football is over for the season, and pro football has two games remaining; die Super Bowl and the Pro Bowl. Basketball, bowling, golf, and ice hockey are going strong and will lead into baseball, which isnt too far off. MASH (CBS) good thing that first impressions arent the last word in television, because this show had one of the poorer opening segments. The show has gotten better with succeeding shows and should pick up in the weeks to come. Based on the movie of the same name, it is set during the Korean War at the 4077th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital ALL THE CHARACTERS from the movie are here with new ones cropping up now and again. Alan Alda leads the group as Hawkeye, Wayne Rogers as Trapper John and Loretta Swit as Hot Lips. Alda is a good choice as Hawkeye. Hes able to bring across the comic lines with good delivery along with good acting. Rogers and Swit are also good choices for their parts as they complement each other. Everyone is riding on the coat tails of All in the Famas far as language and topics are concerned and this ily" show is no exception. IN ONE EPISODE they pull what might lie termed the Lyslstrata bit where because one girl is a jinx she cant get a date. Because of this all the other girls have cut off relations with the guys until one of them dates the Its a girl killHawkeye gets stuck with the job and almost gets ed in the process. The situation is funny and Arlene did a good job as the girl. MASH Isnt really doing well in the ratings being constantly toward the bottom of the list but it's moving up each week. This will lie back next season. The Streets of San Francisco" Gol-on- (BC) ka Here we go again tele si on fans. Not only is this a cops and robbers show, but its liased in San Francisco. Tliat brings the total of San Francisco shows to four and the number of cops and robliers shows to 19. Karl Malden and Michael Douglas star as the two detectives representing the young and old. Malden has some very poor lines to mouth while we are led to believe that Douglas is the intellectual type. MALDEN HAS DONE some fine acting jobs in his life, but this is not one of them. It's not altogether his fault though. He always has his trenchcoat on, looking like something out of 1950. Douglas is nut a gxd actor judging from this show, hit then hes got his fathers reputation to live up to even though he's his own actor. Its a typical Quinn Martin Production lmt doesnt coinc off as 'smnothlv as The FBI and snuxither than Cannon, hit almost anything is hotter than Cannon." THE SAN FRANCISCO scenery is always a plus for any show, hit what happens when you dont have a good script? Banvon" was the other Quinn Martin show new to the television screen this year and it got canned. The Streets of San Francisco will last out the season and then get canned.
