Show Where Do Your Children Play? Our children are curious and tremendously interested in the world around them, and why not? Everything is new, unfamiliar and exciting to them. Objects around the house which adults take for granted, arouse the youngster's curiosity. A childs curious investigations are part of his development and is an important part of growing up. YOUNGSTERS HAVE a large world to explore but are not guided by adult experience and foresight. They are interested in the moment and are too busy to think about possible danger. Children depend on their parents to guard them from harm and a parents familiarity with everyday items reduces his estimate of the danger these items can present to small children. Each of us, as a parent has a responsibility to evaluate our children's environment and to make that environment as safe and as healthy as possible. To do this we must first understand the hazards to our children. We can achieve this by very careful observation of the things around our family. We must look at thinirs with the realization that accidents DO happen in our familiar home surroundings. In 1967 6,3(X) children lietween the ages of 1 and 15 met accidental death in their own home. ACCIDENTS CLAIMED more lives than the six leading diseases combined. After we understand the hazard, it is necessary to develop a defense and to act in time to prevent an accident from happeningThe following is a list of rules for adults to consider in behalf to prevent falls.
