Wiat in oneBetheight Granite Park Delbert Stout, Grant First Ward, uses teaching aids from the meetinghouse library. Mrs Penrod, Stake director of libraries and author of a manual on meetinghouse library operation and organization, can easily answer that question. She has been a Church librarian for 11 years and has put into practice the library program outlined by the recently organized Church Library Coordinating Committee. One librarian running a library by herself is almost like a bishop trying to run a Mrs. Penrod whole ward by himself, maintained. She explained how the eight library assistants are kept busy in the Grant First Ward w'here she was librarian before her stake call. Each library assistant is assigned to an auxiliary or to the Priesthood. They familiarize themselves with all the lesson manuals of their assigned organization. They also become familiar with the material in the library that can be used by these organizations. When the library service is improved, the quality of the teaching in a ward will also be improved, Mrs. Penrod said. There is one meetinghouse library for the Grant F'rst Ward and the Grant 10th ward. Grant 10th Ward has seven librarian assistants. Which means there is or. library to serve both wards, all their auxiliaries and their Priesthood quorums, plus the stake organizations since stake materials are also housed in the building. A meetinghouse library is in keeping with the directions from the Church Library Coordinating Committee. At first we thought combining the two ward libraries would cause some problems, but it has worked out real well, Mrs. Pen-ro- d said. When the staff of library assistants were first called in the Gram 1st Ward years ago, Mrs. Penrod kept them busy organizing the filing, circulation and requisition systems.
