Haynsworth udge Jr. declined to say today whether he agreed with the thrust and direction of the Supreme Court under former Chief Justice Earl Warren. Haynsworth testified he felt he should keep an open mind on cases he will be called on to decide if confirmed as a Supreme Court justice. I wish I could respond more directly, he saiu at a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on his nomination to the court, but I dont see how I could without giving some indication of how I feel cases should be handled. Sen. A. Hart, Philip who raised the ques- tion at the committees second day of hearings, said ht was trying to find out if Haynsworth thought the direction of the Warren Court should be reversed or modified.
