Show DESERET NEWS, hief Named Appointment of Harold J. Tippetts, 45, as director of the State Parks and Recreation Division effective Sept. 1 was announced today by Gov. Calvin L. Ramp-ton-. T i p p e tts, associate now division director, will succeed F. C. Koziol, who is retiring Sept. 15 with accumulated vacation effective Sept. 1. Marvin G. Jenson, former Salt Lake County commissioner, is appointed assistant director. Gov. Rampton approved action by the Parks and Recreation Board which had accepted with regret Koziols retirement and appointed Tip- - petts and Jenson subject to ihe governors action. Koziol, a native of Minnesota, came to Utah in 1935. He became supervisor of the Wasatch National Forest and served in that position until he retired from federal service shortly before May 1965, when he was made director of the state parks system. Tippetts is a native of Montpelier, Idaho. He attended Weber State College and the University of California at Los Angeles before being appointed planning director for Davis County. He served as a member of the State Parks and Recreation Board from 1961 to 1964, then became associate director when Koziol was made Jenson, who served six years as a county commissioner, has been a West Jordan mink rancher and boxing manager. Glenn Deeds, chairman of the board for the trials, said another buzzing incident occurred when he and others wpre trying to cut race car driver Robert (Bob) Herda from his auto. Herda was killed when fire raged through his auto during a qualifying run. Sharp Larsen of the Utah Liquor Commission said there will be a small price boost for some liquors sold in the state stores.
