Imports have hurt them, while their exports have been restricted by government and by labor union strikes. They are demanding 100 percent of parity (which would guarantee that their returns would be at least as high as their production costs) If their demands are not met, We will not sell any farm products; we will not produce any more agricultural products; we will not buy any agricultural equipment, production supplies or supplies. A number of Utah farmers will protest low farm prices Saturday by forming a tractorcade in Salt Lake City and parading to the Capitol. Randy Marble, Tremonton, an organizer for a farm group called American Agriculture, said farmers from northern Utah will hold a tractor caucus in Tremonton Friday morning and then will leave on a long, cold ride to Salt Lake City. The tractors and trucks will be escorted on the freeway by the Highway Patrol. Each driver will have to purchase a $5 overwiuih permit. The protesters will stay Friday night at the State Fairgrounds and southern farmers will join them Saturday for the 1 1 a.m. ride at the Capitol. American Agriculture plan a nationwide farm strike beginning Dec. 14, to cause food shortages until they can gain cousumer support and the government meets their requests. Marble said he hopes about 400 tractors and trucks will participate in the Utah tractorcade. Simultaneously, angry farmers and ranchers will be riding on state capitols throughout the country.
