Show BEEF WITHOUT CORN I "One of the interesting features of I the Western Stock Show to begin at Denver, January 18th, will be the ex- hibits of cattle grown and fed without corn, says Prcs. E. M. Amnions of the Show association. "This class was put in last year to encourage the feed- fl ing of beef cattle on home grown grains. Experiments have shown that H by a wise use of native grass for past- H urc, beef can be produced not only at a profit, but of superior quality H with a limited amount of small H grains, fed with roots, such as beets H or turnips. A steer fed in this way rf will produce a larger percentage of juj tallow, with quality and flavor that H cannot be excelled. The exhibits in H this class last year were creditable, H but will do much better this year and M will attract much attention. Both H feeders and killers arc especially in- H tercsted to know how these animals M will kill out." H |
