Show PLOWING AND HARROWING ! IN ONE OPERATION. -i Several- companies arc now manu-I facturing what is known as a "Har-j row Attachment" for plows. This at-i tachment is made to be used in con- nection with the plow, usually of the sulky or gang type. By its use the ground is harrowed or pulverized as fast as it is plowed. Every farmer knows that there is no time when plowed ground will pulverize better than immediately after af-ter it has been turned. At this time there lias 'been no chance for moisture mois-ture to escape, and1 by harrowing at once, the ground is not only better pulverized, but is placed in a condition condi-tion to conserve the moisture better. By using this harrow attachment in connccton with the plow, there is no need of going over the field again to put the ground in condition for the crop. The field is harrowed as far as plowed at all times. Ordinarily less than one-half of the energy exerted ex-erted by one horse is required to pull it. This type of harrow is made in several different styles and widths. In width it varies from about 18 inches for a single plow to 3 feet for a gang flow. It should have a lever adjustment adjust-ment so that it can be forced into the ground as deeply as desired. We have every reason to believe that this attachment will be much more generally gener-ally used in the near future. It is certainly a tool worth recommending. recommend-ing. Its cost is within the reach of all. H. M. BAINER. . n |
