Show MARCH 19, 1986 Darts end successful season with 7th place size. At least we couldn't compete on an even basis. By KEITH DUNCAN - SALT LAKE CITY One of the most successful prep basketball seasons in Utah high school history came to a YOUD THINK with the kind of height advantage Brighton carried over Davis and the fact the Bengals were regarded as one of the top programs in the state, that the game could have eventually got out of hand. But it didn't. Throughout the first two quarters of play, neither team led by more than four points over the other. The Darts were once up 12-- 9 after two Chris Card freethrows and eventually led after the first close last Saturday morning. It was a prosperous season in the fact this team won 19 of 23 without a single player standing more than 6 foot 2 inches. 57-5- said senior guard Chris Card. And the guard was right. But this quarter was going to be tooth and nail fought as Jon Rees tied the game at 34-3- 4 with a three-poiplay. There was 1:11 still left in the game and the Darts worked it down to the final seconds only to have Brent Meier miss a shot from the outside. Brighton shot seven of eight shots from the field in the final quarter, something else which is tough to beat. 6-- 5, 6-- 4, 6-- 4, . erked out a 47-4- 6 win not only because of their height advantage, but because of the body weight they flung around under both baskets.
