March I, at 12:30 p.m. SPONSORED by the Kaysville Branch of the American Association of University Women, the program will feature two speakers on women's issues, (iaye Littleton full-cour- servations may be made by calling Betty Moore Marjorie Thatcher or Ruth Turner. Center workshops Davis Area KAYSVILLE Vocational Center has an rogram where the school's advisors committees meet with representatives from the work force to keep abreast with new ideas, state of the art equipment and ideas. This helps the school curriculum meet those needs so that students will be prepared to hav e entry level g jobs. ONESl'CH meeting was held for the students in business courses. The assembly for over 200 students was priv ileged to hear from a CPA. an executive from the LDS Church offices, a data processor, an advertising assistant, the director of Social Services for the State of Utah, an executive secretary from Hill Field, a legal secretary from a law linn and a marketing and manage ment consultant. From these business experts, the students heard about keeping records, problem solving, management and listening skills, skills needed for secretaries such as improvement of proof reading, and Corps Center in Ogden. Volun- teers are needed at the center to do such things as tutoring, teaching crafts, driving, doing office work, teaching cooking skills or in any in Arlene D. Alyson. when she was just two years old. A stray dog had oil come into the yard and was very friendly with Alyson. who seemed to enjoy the attention. The artist was born and lived most of her childhood in Springvil-le- . just a few blocks from the Springville Art Gallery. As she grew' older she spent most of her summer afternoons in the gallery, studying the exhibits. She took classes during junior high in the basement classrooms. AFTER MARRIAGE to Larry Wilson, she dabbled with oil painting while having a family and also worked as a reporter on the city desk of the Deseret News. DURING THE summer of 1984. while riding her bicycle down a spring. ARLENE WAS pleased to be invited by Dave Merrill, art director in Farmington, to exhibit her first art show in the Farmington City Hall. She and her husband Larry Wilson lived in Farmington for 14 years before moving to Kaysville three years ago. They bought an old 9th century farmhouse in West Kaysville and are enjoying restoring the beautiful old home. West Kaysville Lane, she happened to see LeConte Stewart painting along the roadside where he often worked. Stopping to chat, Arlene was thrilled to be invited to get her oil paints and join him. at his request. She painted all summer and fall with Mr. Stewart who shared much knowledge for this hobby. Arlene painted with Kent Wallis in Logan. Then with a friend, she spent two months in Italy, France and Great Britain, painting and studying the work of the Masters in many of the famous art galleries of Europe. She will study with Daniel Baxter in Salt Lake City this MR. WILSON is supervisor with Davis County School District. The couple has seven children and 13 grandchildren. The public is invited to come in and enjoy the exhibit of oil paintings in the Farmington City Hall, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The exhibit will remain there until March 31.
