Shaffer of 968 E. 1000 S., Clearfield, has been decorated with the third award of the Air Force Commendation Medal at Hill Air Force Base. THE AIR Force Commendation Medal is awarded to those individuals who demonstrate outstanding achievement or meritorious service in the performance of their duties on behalf of the Air Force. She taught school for seven years and was a Civil Service clerk typist for four years. She has been a correspondent for the Standard-Examinand the former Weekly Reflex in Kaysville. SHE WAS a member of the Utah State Poetry Society and had her Haiku poetry published in the Golden Anniversary Edition of Utah Sings. She was also a member of the AAUW, OES, Alpha Xi Delta Sorority, National Collegiate Play- ers, and the United Methodist Surviving are her husband of Sunset; one son, Michiel G. Burson, Roy; one daughter, Patricia A. Burson, Phoenix, Ariz.; and three grandchildren. ALSO SURVIVING are one brother, Col. W.W. Gist, Ret., Scottsdale, Ariz.; and one sister, Mrs. R.V. (Aloha) Wing, Jhoenix, Ariz. She was preceded in death by one sister.
