Due to the tremendous reTasponse, the Davis County lent Show has been changed to 2 p.m., April 27 at South Clearfield Elementary School. 4-- SIXTY-TW- contestants will O compete in dance, vocal, in- strumental music, or gymnastics. Ribbons only will be awarded. The Junior, and Senior Divisions will run concurrently in different locations in the school. The public is invited to attend. Pre-junio- r, Beta Sigma Phi Meets DON AND MARY EDWARDS Don T. and Mary C. Edwards have accepted a mission call to the Massachusetts Boston LDS Mission. They will enter the MTC May 1. THEY WILL speak Sunday, April 28 at 10:45 a.m. in the Kaysville 2nd Ward at the Rock Chapel, 25 S. 200 E. Joy Marie Lambson, daughter of Glen and Joyce Lambson of Farmington, has been called to serve in the South Dakota Rapid City mission. SHE WILL enter the MIC on May 9. Her farewell will be April 28 at 3 p.m. in the Farmington 10th Ward Chapel, 729 W. Shepard Lane. Joye is a graduate of Davis High School and has attended B YU. She recently returned from Israel where she participated in the study abroad program. THERE will be an open house following the farewell at her home. Steve Sargent, son of Gary A. and Mary Lynne Sargent of Fruit Heights, has been called to serve a mission for the LDS Church in the Uruguay, Montevideo Mission. A FAREWELL will be held in his honor April 28 at 2:30 p.m. in the Fruit Heights 2nd Ward Chapel, 901 S. Mountain Road, Fruit Heights. Steve, a sophomore at Brigham Young University, graduated from Davis High with high honors. He was of the football and in basketball teams and captain of the tennis team. He also served as president of ATAC (All Teen Alcohol Council). Steve is also an Eagle Scout, np Shelly Larsen, daughter of Burke and Roselyn Larsen of Layton, has been called to serve in the Lima Peru South LDS Mission. PRIOR to her departure to the MTC May 9, she will be honored at a farewell April 28 at the Kaysville 20th Ward, 1039 E. Crestwood Road, at 3:30 p.m. Shelly is a graduate of Davis High School and Seminary and has attended Utah State University for two years. Her hobbies include cooking and jogging. She has been employed by Kaysville Drug store. AN OPEN house will be held at the Larsen home at 1 10 N. 2700 E. in Layton on Tuesday, May 27 from 9 p.m. 7-- MAX AND FERN RIGBY Max and Fern Rigby have been called to serve in the North mission. They till enter the MTC May 8. Caroli-na-Ralei- THEIR farewell will be Sunday, April 28 at 9 a.m. in the Kaysville 19th Ward at the Kaysville Tabernacle, 198 W. Center. Elder Rigby retired from Utah Power and Light Co. after 37 years. He served as bishop of the Kaysville 6th Ward for four years. Has been a member of the High Council of the Kaysville Utah Stake and served as High Priest group leader. MRS. RIGBY' retired from Mountain Bell Company after being employed for 26 years. She has served as MIA president three times and Sunday School coordinator and both have held many other positions in the church. ELDER PEARCE Elder Travis I. Begay, son of George Begay, Shiprock, New Mexico and foster son of Don and Arlene Lansberry, Kaysville, has been called to serve in the Billings, Montana mission. HE WILL be honored on Sunday, April 28 at the Kaysville 10th Ward Sacrament meeting. A graduate of Davis High School and LDS Seminary he has been employed at the Deseret Gym the past year. He will enter the MTC on May 16. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Card, np 6 Layton By DONETA GATHERUM 773-497- Gardinet Returns 4-- from high school he has been employed by the John Collier Construction Company. He has earned the On My Honor and Duty to God awards. He has held several priesthood quorum positions in his ward. HE WILL speak Sunday, April 28 at 1:20 p.m. at the Layton 15th Ward Chapel, 590 W. 2000 N. He will enter the MTC May 9. Friends and family are invited to visit with him at his home following the meeting. 6 Mr. and Mrs. John V. Adams have returned home after spending several weeks vacationing over the winter in the Palm Springs area of California. Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Harris of Carson City, Nev. have been visiting in the Layton area with friends and relatives. Much of their vacation time was spent in Ogden with Mrs. Harris parents, Mr. and Mrs. Golden H. Adams. Mr. and Mrs. Harris left Utah to continue their vacation tour Texas. Members of the OFT Club held their April meeting at the Sizzler Restaurant in Layton. Hostess for the month was Mrs. Ruth H. Adams. Club members attending were Mrs. Julia Thornley, Woods Cross; Mrs. Delma Bushnell, Clearfield; Mrs. Mary Roberts, Mrs. Dorothy Adams and Mrs. Ruth Adams, all of Layton. Lorin and Reta Bachman celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last Thursday evening at a family dinner held at the Mansion House in Ogden. The couple are residents of Ogden. Mrs. Bachman in is Elder Steven K. Pearce has accepted a call to serve in the Minnesota Minneapolis Mission. He is the son of Dewey and Donna Pearce of 1836 N. Alder, Layton. ELDER Pearce is a graduate of Layton High School and LDS Seminary. He was on the basketball team where he lettered for three years. He served on the Seminary Council. He attended Utah Boys State. Since graduating the former Reta Adams, a Layton native. Riata Days Not Too Camp of Daughters of Utah Pioneers at her home for their April meeting. Mrs. Jennie Hollist will give the lesson. Mrs. Beth Tall will entertain the ALonas Club at her home on Tuesday afternoon. New officers were elected to serve for the Athena Club 1985-86 year. Jolene Bennett, president; Norma Streadbeck, vice president and Marilyn Flint, secretary. semi-month- ly AFTER A short business meeting, Mrs. Ellis presented her lesson on the theatre explaining briefly how theatre first originated and some of the various aspects of it. Biographies of Vivien Leigh and Laurence Olivier were also incorporated into her lesson. The chapter also discussed plans for upconing events. Founders Day activities and banquet will be held this year at the Rodeway Inn, Riverdale on Thursday, April 25. This is an annual international event and will be attended by all the Beta Sigma Phi chapters throughout the county. INSTALLATION of the new Davis County Council officers will be conducted at the home of Barbara Iverson, Layton, on Wednesday, May 8; and the new officers for the Laureate Epsilon chapter will be installed the following evening, May 9, at the home of Mary Ann Bundy, Layton. That evening will also be the chapters birthday party and members plan to celebrate it with a dinner social. Secret sisters will be revealed that evening and new ones assigned. PLANS for their Mothers Day luncheon observance were also discussed. This event is planned for Saturday, May 4. HIS LIFE has been devoted to both civic and church activities. He served as bishop of the Kaysville 2nd Ward for six years, was a member of the Kaysville East Stake High Council for six years, served as ward clerk for five years, was a bishops counselor six years and has served in many other offices of the LDS Church. Mrs. Edwards was bom in Spanish Fork and reared in Orem graduating from Lincoln High School. HER LIFE has been devoted to service of others and she has held many leadership positions in the church. She served in the presidency of the Relief Society and Sunday School as well as teaching positions in the Primary and Cub Scouting. She was recently released as president of the Relief Society to serve this mission. He taught shop at Davis High. He was born in Provo and graduated from Lincoln High School in Orem. He received his degree from Utah State University in secondary education in vocational agriculture.
