Check Us A prominent KAYSV1LLE Ogden artist, Russ Shepherd is currently exhibiting his oil and water color paintings at the Barnes Banking Company in Kaysville for the September Art Exhibit which is sponsored by the Fine Arts Committee of the Kaysville Civic Association. MR, SHEPHERD was born in Paris, Bear Lake County, Ida. and spent his formative years in the Bear Lake Valley. His interest in art surfaced at an early age. As a young boy he entered art work in the county fair and won several awards. SZYMANSKI, a native of Chicago, III., has lived in West Point for the past five years. His paintings center around his impressions of Utah during the years he has lived here. Barns, fields, waterwheels are all portrayed in a landscape portrait of the countryside that is fast disappearing. Most of Mr. Szymanski's paintings are done using watercolors. He paints those things that interest him and the art work reflects his feelings. Mr. Szymanski studied commercial art for two years at the America Academy of Art in Chicago. He changed fields and moved from Chicago in 1967 to become a radio announcer in Wyoming. After following the radio announcing profession in Wyoming and Washington state for many years, Mr. Szymanski again changed jobs and started working for a soft drink company. This new job brought him to Utah and the beautiful scenery inspired him to return to painting. on-sit- art and minored in music and received his degree from that institution. Since graduation, he has been working in commercial art in the Aerospace Industry as well as private industry. Kaysville Parents of a daughter are Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Cotterell of Nampa, Ida. The new mother is the former Kathy Caldwell of Kaysville. The new addition arrived on Aug. 28 weighing 7 lb. 9 oz. and was named Danielle. At home is a sister Kan-dic- e. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Gale F. Caldwell, Kaysville; Mr. and Mrs. Dave Cotterell of Nampa, Ida. Mr. and Mrs. H. Glenn Austin spent a week in Wyoming visiting with relatives and friends in Carpenter, Laramie and Cheyenne. They were guests of her brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. Don Morse. A highlight of their trip was to visit former college friends. They were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Claus Plambark. Mrs. Austin and Mrs. Plamback were school chums and had not seen each other for 13 years. The Kaysville 11th LDS Ward held their annual father and son summer outing in Box Elder County with Curt Caldwell in charge of arrangements. Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Felt attended their high school class reunion held at Payson High School on Saturday. They also spent time at Sundance Resort, Swiss Days in Midway and Deer Creek vacationing for a few days. Arles K. and Penny Steiner returned from Washington where they spent the past two months. Ted McDaniel loves old machinery. He carries a camera with him wherever he travels so he can take pictures of machinery. From the slides he takes, he develops unique pictures. Although he considers himself primarily self taught in these areas, he has had some private instruction and has had experience in teaching painting.
