GIVE TO NEEDY LAYTON including 86 -- - Forty-si- x families children one half young children and one half teena- gers, and three handicapped individuals, had a nice Christmas this year because of donations, hundreds of donations, made by the nearly 500 families who are members of the St. Rose of Lima Parish in Layton. FOOD AND toys are supplied to the needy people who were referred to the St. Rose volunteers through the Davis County Division of Social Services by donations in money and commodities given by Parish members. According to the church's Out Reach Coordinator and Chairman for this Christmas donation drive, Maria Rottenburg, each family was asked to donate one toy, either a new article or a used toy that was in top condition. The alphabet was divided into sections and one or two basic food items like fruits and vegetables, soups and cereal was listed by each alphabetical division. People were asked to contribute food from the list according to the starting letter of their last name. GENEROUS donations of money came from many parishoners. Some church members have established a family tradition of donating each year a certain item for distribution to the poor. For at least 15 years, the Perry Lambert family has contributed all the bread needed; the Dominique Motta family has given potatoes and oranges and the Ted Ridl family has donated onions.
