Local homes host French students LAYTON - Last year, Marla Murphy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. -- Sheridan Murphy, and Heather Welch, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jonathan Welch, were ninth grade students learning French from Mrs. Carole Hyde at North Layton Junior High School. Mrs. Hyde told of a Nacel Cultural Exchange program which placed teenage French boys and girls in American homes for one month during the Summer vacation. Marla and Heather signed up for the program and on July 8, two attractive, eager French girls arrived by bus in Layton. Isabelle Rodiac, a 15 year old from Toulon, France, is the guest of the Murphy family. The Welch family is enjoying the companionship of Florence Delavenay from Romans, France. Although Isabelle has studied English for five years and Florence has seven years of classroom English, both girls are shy about communicating with their new American friends. Americans talk so fast! they both observe. Marla and Heather who have only two years of classroom French find a dictionary a great aid in across. Hand signals ideas getting and a friendly smile are the biggest language barrier breakers. The French girls have interesting backgrounds. Florences father is a notary and her mother is a chemist. Isabelle comes from a seaport city that lies between Marseille and Monocco. Her father is a gynecologist and her mother owns a small catering business. Since both are from large cities, they are amazed by the open spaces that are so abundant in the Western United States. In keeping with the purpose of the Nacel Cultural Exchange prog- ram, that of giving people the opportunity to meet others and learn about different cultures, the Welch family and the Murphy family have planned a month of typical American activities which will include dances, picnics, trips to local tourists spots, Lagoon, girls camp, little league sports and a Salt Lake Trappers baseball game. Neither girl has ever attended a baseball game, dmg Backman Title Company Successor Trustee Published in the Davis Reflex Journal First publication July 22, 1986 Last publication Aug. 5, 1986 Issue No. 9 R-2- NOTICE OF TRUSTEES SALE The following scribed property de- will be sold at public auction to the highest bidder, payable in lawful money of the United States at the time of sale, on the North front steps of the Davis R-2- County Courthouse, NOTICE OF TRUSTEES SALE The following described property will be sold at public auction to the highest bidder on the 26th day of August, 1986 at 11:00 A.M. at the North front door of the Davis County Court House at Farmington, Utah in the County of Davis, by SECURITY TITLE COMPANY, as Trustee under the Deed of Trust made by BEN W.
