Waite, Sharon Elggren 4-- H Davis 4-- women attend confab H Joan Waite from Layton, Sharon Llggren and Paula Hansen from Kaysville, and Norma Earl from Sunset, recently returned from the 1986 Western Regional Leaders Forum in Albuquerque, New Mexico. 4-- H n MORE THAN 600 leaders from western states, Canada and attended. Workshops such as The Power ofTouch by Kathleen Keating R.N., M.A. on Hug Therapy" was exceptional. The Ciuam California Mental Health Counselor say "Hug terapy can make the healthy healthier, the happy hap pier, and the most secure among us feel even more so. Hugging is for everybody. Other workshops were on electricity, rockets, public speaking, teen suicide, leathercraft and community pride projects were only a few offered at this conference. Sight seeing was a highlight of the trip to Albuquerque. The Utah delegation visited the "Old Town" to do some shopping and see how Albuquerque was before modernization. Another very interesting tour was to the Acoir.a Indian Pueblos. ONE OF the most important and enlightening workshops was on Teen Suicide and how to watch for danger signals, to determine when your child is asking for help, not criticism. Stress is another factor brought up in this workshop. Participation at this forum was paid in part by the J.C. Penney Travel Scholarships. Much of this information will be taught at local leader training programs and everyone interested is invited to participate.
