Sandra Lynn Schroader, a fulltime LDS missionary from serving in the California San Diego Mission received a Volunteer Recognition Award recently, for her service to the deaf community of San Diego County. Kays-vill- e, SANDRA, the sole recipient from 1,800 potential candidates, was chosen by The United Way, The United Way Recognition Committee, the Volunteer Action Committee, and the Carnation Company to receive the silver engraved recognition bowl. I especially enjoy going to the childrens hospital to babysit the deaf children while their parents attend meetings and classes with the hospital staff." When Sandra received her mission call in February, 1984, she had no idea that the deaf people, to whom she had been called to serve, would have such an impact upon her life in the mission field.
