Yet, there is still time to sift and sort and separate the wheat from the chaff in an effort to determine just whom you should vote for w hen you go to the polls next Tuesday, You have probably already made up your mind about the national offices Lee, Mos or Watkins ; King or Davis Countys native William Dawson. The judges will be on a separate ballot, having been removed from the political ballot to make them appear There are two, Hendricks or Norseth. Getting down to the county offices, thee are the people who will probably have much more to do with you personally than any of the others, Thee are the people who will decide the policies of the county, the cost of its government, the service you will get. All county offices are $6,000 a jear jobs. The s clerk, recorder, assessor, treasurer all have their and duties fairlv well outlined for them. Still, you should think carefully and make certain that jou place an X by the name of the individual you feel most qualified, by experience, temperament and ability, to serve the interests of Davis County. The sheriff, too, like all other county offices is a $6,000 a year man. He will be, perhaps, more in a position to affect the county than some of the other offices. He should be calm, reasonable, fearless and determined to enforce all la w s. The commissioners two are coming up for election, two incumbents and two new seekers are the men who will determine to a great extent the course Davis County will take during the next two years. They should be men of reason, conscientous and with a genuine will to serve the interests of the entire county. Like the sheriff and the commissioners, the course of the county attorney may be altered by the man holding the position. He should be reasonable, unimpeachable and strong enough to fight for his convictions. Part of the county, too, will vote for school board tnembers. The men serving from Lav ton north do not come up for this year. From Kaysville south ijp Woods Cross, there will be school board members n. pnsi-tion- chosen. School board members get only a token salary ($600 per year) so anyone seeking that office is doing it with a purpose, not of self betterment, but because he fee's qualified to be of service to the schools. The members Of the Davis County School Eoard handle upwards of fix and a half million of Y'OUR DOLLARS during the yew. The achool board members, then, should have as well as great interest in the schools. They must, of necessity be strong willed, not afraid to make an occasional enemy, if the betterment of the schools is at stake. We do not attempt to tell anyone how to vote. Personally acquainted with ALL of the local office seekers, we feel a favored slate is on the ballot on both Republican and Democratic tickets. All we want is for you to make certain that you THINK BEFORE YOU VOTE. AND THEN. NO MATTER WHAT THE WEATHER, THE LONG WALK. THE BUSY DAT .
