Ludeen Gibbons, left, chief deputy auditor, works with Fawn Jensen, who will supervise the placing of property taxes on the county computer COUNTY COMPUTER By ROSELYN KIRK Training procedures are underway to prepare Davis County employees in the County Clerk's office to index information into a new computer, which will be used this year to prepare voter registration lists COUNTY Clerk Rod Walker said he is hopeful that voter materials registration prepared through the computer will be available by The program for $55,000 computer is currently being prepared by August 1 the Burroughs Corp , the company that sold the machine to the county After the program is complete, adjustments to the program will be made under the direction of Wanda Wood, an employee of the County Clerks Office who is super vising voter registration LUDEEN Gibbons, chief deputy auditor, is in charge of the computer training program She is directly responsible for training operators to index the information on the voter registration and tax evaluation notices Mrs Gibbons, along with Barbara Phillips from the County Assessors Office attended a training school in Francisco earlier this San year to teach them how to train personnel and get the computer operational Mrs Phillips is trained to program r notices will be prepared on the computer UNDER THE direction of Mrs Gibbons, Fawn Jensen has been placed in charge of indexing the information for the property taxes onto the disc in preparation for next IT WILL take from six to eight months to put the property descriptions on the discs. Mr. Walker is hopeful that tax evaluation notices, to be mailed out by May 15, 1978 can be prepared on the year machine In order for this to happen, a property description for each parcel of property, the names and address of the property owners, the service number, and the assessed evaluation must be punched onto the disc Once this infor mation is on the disc, only a few changes will need to be made each year in caes where property changes hands or w'hen new' property is purchased Although the computer will be used to prepare for oter registration lists this year, the next notices to be prepared by the machine will be the tax ecaluation notices which hopefully will be mailed out by May 15, 1978, Mr Walker said EVERY YEAR oter infer mation must be updated City elections will be held this year and county elections the follow ing year Voter regis tration booklets must be in the hands of the registration agent two weeks before Oc THE COMPUTER will not be programmed this year to send out tax and w'ater notices 1, the first day that voters can register Mr Walker said for the present time all of the county bookkeeping, including payroll, will continue to be computed on the mini com puter in the accounting office The newly purchased com puter does not hae the disc storage capacdy necessary to tober since the information nece sary will not be included on the disc.
