KAYSVILLE POLICE The Kaysville Police Force is an admirable group of men who provide necessary police protection for our com- etc. Chief Larkins has over lfK) post credit hours LT. MORRISON has been invesserving as a tigator since May 1, 1977. He is specializing in weapon1-- , fire arms which qualifies him as improved instructor officer of this department. Sgt. Helquist is specializing in finger printing and full-tim- e munity MEMBERS of the force include Lyle Larkins, chief of police who has served for the 17 years, Flmer Morrison, It who has 14 years of service; Dave Helquist, sgt with five past , , years, Robert Mednick, patrolman, with three years; Ron Barton, patrolman, two years; Va! Morton, patrolman, one year, and Reed Heslop who recently joined the force Has one ever stopped to realize the tiemendous service our police department offers to our community as well as each individual. Their services are limitless and they are so willing to render service to anyone at anytime whether on or off duty. WHENEVER AN emer- gency arisen the first thought is the police department, where one is sure they will and find someone willing to assist them. These men are also a great asset to the city fire department, with all of their special training. They assist in all fire calls and emergency calls. They are all serving as members of the fire squad y THE Kaysville Police Department received a federal grant which will provide the force to hire a juvenile officer and Officer Robert Mednick who most of Kaysville-- ; juvenile related problems and paper work has been authorized by Kaysville City Council to accept this appointment and position. Officer Val Morton has acquired 40 hours in pho tography school and he will assume this roll on the force THREE OF the men, in ad dition to their full time job officers, are also taking classes at Weber State College weekly. Some of the qualifications to apply for a police officer are: must be 23 years of age or older, must be a high school graduate and must be able to pass the required tests and examinations, have a good driving record as well as a good credit rating. They are interviewed by a panel and screened thoroughly before being accepted. Some members' of the police department are usually enrolled in special and updated courses of police work to provide our community with the best protection possible and latest techniques The men are required to take eight weeks of basic training with the Ltah Police POLICE said there Academy are well pleased with the EACH AND every year, all officers are required to complete a training course.
